TechnoLife Digital Illustration 238 cm x 84 cm

Artist Statement TechnoLife is a reflection on our overuse of technology. In the artwork, I juxtaposed the time and space in which people were using their mobile devices, resulting in some outrageous scenarios. The outrageousness is in fact, a call for the audiences to reevaluate their relationship with technology.

Magnet Pig App Design Sketches and Modeling Pencil and clay

Artist Statement "Magnet Pig" is a self-initiated collaborative App design project. Sketching takes up a lot of time in my creative process and used these sketches as stimulations for the digitalized illustrations. I also created a clay model for the main character so as to aid the process of drafting and creating the animation.

Galaxy Student Council Logo Design Development Digital Artist Statement The strokes of the letter "g" were taken from the school logo and they form the shape of an ear which represents "listening to students' opinion". The logo also resembles the planet Saturn as a connection with the name "Galaxy". Along with the use of purple, the logo helps establishing a recognizable identity for the council.

Final Design

Rid the Grids Acrylic on canvas 83 cm x 83 cm Artist Statement Rid the Grids states how I strived for a change by changing schools. I borrowed the idea of spot painting from Damien Hirst. However, in contrast to his neat composition, I adopted a design that shows a gradual displacement of the spots. Hence, this shows how I chose to walk away from my comfort zone.

ID Cube Color stickers on MDF boards 35(W) x 35(D) x 35(H) cm Artist Statement This installation is a statement of my puzzled mind as a Hong Kong citizen. I borrowed the concept of a Rubiks Cube twisting nature, and how different colors are being mixed together. Taking factors such as cultural integration and political environment, my identity can hardly be separated into clear categorizations.

Pawnsumerism Sound-activated neon installation 100 cm x 150 cm

Artist Statement Neon sign is a symbolism of consumerism. The concept of pawning ties with consumerism in the sense that they are based on human desires. The design of Pawnsumerism uses colloquial Cantonese and reassembles the meaning of Pawning very often. Therefore, the artwork is a written criticism of such phenomenon.

A Type of Art Enamel paint and marker on found object 44(W) x 30(D) x 16(H) cm Artist Statement Are art and design different? In this artwork, I explored the relationship between these two forms of creativity. Using enamel paint and marker, I repainted this old typewriter with china pattern. "Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics." this quote from Paul Rand sums up what I realized as I was finishing the work.

Roll Away Fine liner on tissue rolls 110(W) x 12(D) x 210(H) cm Artist Statement This series of observational drawings on tissue paper is a reflection of our throwaway society. Furthermore, as we tear away a square of tissue paper, this act symbolizes forgoing future resources for our next generation. I hope to enlighten the audience; allowing them to rethink about how they should treat our earths valuable resources.

Urdu, Urdu Oil on canvas 91 cm x 61 cm

Artist Statement Through painting the faces of Pakistani children, I engaged into their culture and I realized how fascinating it was to understand people from the other side of the world. Through this portraiture, I hope to let people learn and to care more about these ethnic minorities as we live together in this community.
