LESSON PLAN

Year: Date: Year 5 Monday 13th May 2013 Curriculum Area: Time Period: Mathematics 60 Minutes

Specific Lesson Learning Goals Students will be able to: Define an angle Identify an acute angle Identify an obtuse angle Identify a right angle Identify the units by which an angle is measured

Students Prior Knowledge: This is the students first lesson on angles. Students have previously studied shapes. Preparation: Whiteboard Whiteboard markers

Information: Definition: The space between two intersecting lines between the point where they meet Intersecting line lines that meet at one point

Types of angles: acute, obtuse, right, reflex Right angle an angle of 90 degrees. Two lines that make an L shape Acute angle an angle that is smaller than a right angle Obtuse angle an angle that is greater than a right angle but smaller than a straight line Reflex angle an angle that is greater than a straight line

Informal Assessment of Student Outcomes What will you assess? Define an angle Identify an acute angle Identify an obtuse angle Identify a right angle Identify the units by which an angle is measured How will you assess? What evidence will you collect? Look at and correct the drawn angles in the students Mathematics books Collect and mark the collected worksheets Return the marked worksheets to the students
