Overall Workshop Objective: For the purpose of introducing a coherent and sustainable model for the poor people to improve their livelihood and to enhance community development in the perspective of a peaceful co-existence, employees from PNKS, PARCE and PBO are trained as trainers (ToT) in the community development model as used by SUPOTH in Bangladesh. Participants will after the training be able to train and supervise others in the implementation of the model. Outcome of the workshop: Participants have tested the tools of SUPOTHs model in the operational areas of PNKS/PARCE and made it fit into Cambodian community context. Participants have developed a set of formats which allow practical replication at community level as well as at VDC and Commune levels. Further, participants have made plan of actions for the further application process. Workshop Component I Introduction to the SUPOTH model to community development and how it works in Bangladesh Workshop Component II Build on their own experience, participants will make SUPOTHs model fit into the Cambodia n context with regard to building active and engaged community based Self-help groups (SHGs), promoting conflict resolution and peaceful coexistence, establishing sustainable income generation opportunities through: Mobilization of poor and marginalized citizens Getting started through organizing saving schemes Community capacity training in selected issues suitable for the given context, as for example: Finance, bookkeeping and banking Organising, planning and targeting Peace-building and conflict-handling Technical skills for farmers and non-farmers Setting Community Capacity Indicators (CCI) for measuring results and change Setting up a CCI monitoring chart with milestones Using the CCI monitoring chart to make a baseline Workshop Component III For the purpose of engaging with advocacy and duty-bearers, participants will try out the SUPOTH cluster model to establish Civil Society Organisations (CBOs) across trained SHGs in a democratic manner and build their capacity to empower citizens on their civic and legal rights and take proactive measures for resource-mobilisation for the benefit of the poor and marginalised: Establishing CBOs at Commune level across SHGs Capacity training to CBOs in selected issues suitable for the given context, as for example: Civic and legal rights on relevant and specific provisions in law and policies Claiming rights to relevant duty-bearers on relevant issues (as for example: access to productive resources, access to basic health, access to conflict-mediation in certain cases, disaster risk reduction, extension service, etc.) Linking to private and public enterprises for pro-poor access to goods, services and income opportunities Making plans for establishing CBOs at Commune level Setting up a CBO monitoring chart Using the CBO monitoring chart to make a baseline Workshop Component IV Participants will get a deeper introduction to the following themes: Saving and Loan Schemes (guidelines) Ensuring a peaceful coexistence in the communities and through access to justice Adolescent programmes as a good investment for the future
