Outline I. Introduction A. Music is a magical thing. In modern days people listen to rap, hip hop, etc.

But what do you think they listened to in the 1700s? Not rap, or R&B, but classical music. There are many composers that factored in of the evolution of classical music throughout time. B. Beethoven is the most eclectic and unique composer of the classical era. II. Early Life A. B. C. D. E. F. He was born on December 16, 1760 in Bonn, Germany to a family of 8; all boys; poor First teacher was his father; very strict; taught him violin and piano He didnt really enjoy it; everyone knew he was talented; he taught lessons Father really loved exploiting his talent; once lied about him being 6 instead of 7 Composed his first sonata at age 10 At age 12, his mother died; father alcoholic; care for his brothers; half of fathers salary was put in Beethovens account

III. Mid Life A. After few years he started composing a lot of music. Strings, piano, etc. B. A lot of characterization, articulation, and joy were evident in his pieces throughout this part of his life. C. He still taught lessons; he liked one of his students named Josephine. D. Josphines parents forbid her to see Beethoven. E. These emotions of the ups and downs with Josephine really affected his mental stability 1. Suicidal Thoughts 2. Bi Polar F. A year after his love issues Beethoven became completely deaf. G. It is from here that Beethovens music really took a turn; from being really up beat and happy, to a very enigmatic and sorrowful music literature. H. One may think that being deaf would cause the composer to stop playing; in this case Beethoven created many works, all with very unique and sulky sound, and extremely complex difficulty. This was when Beethoven was most musically sophisticated.

IV. End Of Life A. B. C. D. Towards the end of his life, his works of music and composing came to a halt. He became bed ridden for a few months and ended up dying at age 56. The autopsy showed that he had extreme liver damage, most likely from alcohol. Over 40,000 people attended his funeral.

V. Closing A. Beethovens life was like a roller coaster. From the beginning his life was easy and his music was bright and lively, but towards the end of his life, things got much more complex, and his music got very depressing and complex. Beethovens bi polar disease is one of the factors that made him such a memorable composer; because no 2 of his pieces were alike. Music is a magical thing, but it starts from your emotions.
