Scrapping of Rejected finished material

Dear Sir, We have a business scenario as below : A Casting (finished product) has been manufactured and subsequently it was rejected due to some quality issue . This rejected Casting need to be scrapped and after scrapping , it will result into a Scrap . The generated Scrap , will come into the stock . Request the members , kindly guide us about the steps to be followed to address the above scenario please . With Regards B Mittal

Hi Mittal, 1) reject your FG item while doing Usage decision for your production order. 2) As a result it will come to blocked stock, then transfer it to your scrap storage location. 3) Create one material code for scrap. 4) Now with t code MB1B and movement type 309 transfer the material from FG to Scrap material.

Dear Mr Amit Kataria Thanks for reply . The problem with the suggested solution is that the unit of measurement for Rejected -Item and the Scrap item are different . In our case , Rejected Item has UOM in Each and Scrap Item has UOM in KG . The scrapping in this case result into a Scrap of 500KG quantity on rejecting 1 qty of the the Rejected Item and the Scrap generated quantity shall be varying based upon the Rejected item .

Just maintain base unit of measure EACH for scrap material and maintain alternative UOM as KG and GI unit as KG. Now u don't have issue to use 309 to transfer FG to scrap...later u can scrap material from stock also u can view scrap material stock in KG Regards, Prabakaran Gurusamy

Hi You can create a production order with out material through CO07 and assign this material as BOM component and the scrap material code as By product with -ve qty. while doing confirmation the rejected material will get consumed through 261 movement type and the scrap material will be generated through 531 movement type.Rework order type can be used for this scenario in which no original BOM is selected and reference opn set or work center can be used.
