3D FUNDAMENTAL SECTION

This section will give you an understanding 3D as it relates to Televisions.

February 3D TV Training

3D Fundamentals (What is 3D?)

Each eye looks at an image from slightly different angles. Therefore, the brain takes these two different images and translates them into one image giving us depth perception. This is difficult to reproduce on a 2 dimensional screen screen. We have to come up with a scheme that will allow us to see the same image from two different angles giving us 3D effects.

If the two images g were added together g without the brain doing the calculations to combine them, they would appear out of focus. Note: The Left and Right eye are actually seeing the same image but from a different angle, but for this explanation one is shown inverted from the other for clarity purposes simply to show there is a difference between the two images seen by each eye.

This section will give you troubleshooting guidelines for LG 3D Televisions.

3D Troubleshooting Flow Chart Page 1 of 4

If you are having trouble seeing 3D, Try changing the 3D selection types if it is difficult to determine what format the 3D movie is in. Example: Top/Bottom, Side by Side, Checker Board, Frame Sequential. Make sure you are using at least version 1.3 HDMI cable. (1.4 HDMI will auto select).
Red Power LED should stay on solid for about 3 sec. then go off. When power button is pressed for Power Off, the LED will blink 3 times. Note 1: The Red LED will blink constantly for 1 minute if battery is discharged. Note 2: Glasses can operate using the USB connector plugged in if batteries are not charged. Dont forget to try swapping the L/R selection by pressing the 3D Setting button on the remote control. (Blue Button in the Special Function Buttons) A simple test is to hold the glasses about 1 ft. in front of you towards a white sheet of paper. The glasses should still able to see the 3D Emitter signal from the TV while playing a 3D movie. If the glasses sync up the paper will appear as looking through normal sun glasses, if not synced, the paper will appear amber in color.

Play a 3D Movie Make sure the 3D Glasses are charged Charged

Use a Digital Camera or Cell Phone Camera to look at the transmitter to see if the two LEDs are illuminated.

Eye Tiredness Information

Why your eyes get tired while youre seeing 3D images : The color clarity and resolution of 3D images are lower than those of 2D. 3D images deliver strong effects. Viewing popping out images, which is distorted, for a long time makes you more tired. Accommodation and convergence (Your both eyes focus a single point) 3D presentation with glasses displays unnatural images due to no time difference during eye movements. 3DC safety guidelines for distribution of 3D displays suitable for human eyes were made at the 3D Consortium 2006 It is recommended to see 3D images within a distance of 2m. The brain is not able to adjust the focus when you are more than 2m away from the TV. Customers dont have the condition for seeing a display within 2m, below warning sentence should be noticeable. If it is impossible for customer to view 3D image displayed on the screen 2m away from the display, keep in mind that the convergence angle should not exceed 2 degrees. For example, when you see the display 1m away from the TV, th di the distance t of f any 3D i image popping i out t should h ld b be within ithi 38cm.

The brain gets confused because of the distance difference between the actual image and the popping up image image.
