RATIONALE

SYPNOSIS

This course in Basic Pathology highlight the basic concepts and principles of tissues response to injury including those due to chemical, physical and microbial agents affecting the major organ systems. The applications of the principles of the Pathology in understanding disease processes will emphasized to illustrate the relationship between the cause (agents), lesion, (structural abnormality) and sign (functional abnormality) in disease as can be observed grossly and microscopically. :

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES : At the end of the course , students will be able to: CO1 CO2 CO3 CO4 CO5 CO6 CO7 CO8 Describe verbally and in written form the important pathological terminologies. Classify and explain in written form the different classification of pathology. Explain the basic concepts and principles of tissue response to injury. Explain in written form the biochemistry process interruption based diseases, principle of main test and latest techniques used. Describe in written form the relationship between etiology (cause), pathogenesis (mechanism) and sign and symptoms in disease. Differentiate the normal tissue and pathologic tissue based on microscopic slide observation. Individually perform the laboratory diagnostic techniques and identify the relationship between disease and lifestyle. Abide the safety measures when handling the laboratory equipments during the lab session.
