MBA BATCH 2007 38
c:,
"',""
Wth great pleasure I introduce to prospective employers another
smart batch of our students who would be completing their MBA
programme in May 2007.
The Department of Business Administration under the School of
Management Studies (DBA-SMS), Assam University has been
functioning since July 1997 as an AICTE-approved Central University
Department. Over the years DBA-SMS has made significant strides
towards establishing itself as the premier institution of management
education in North East India. The institution has been ranked as one
of the top 100 B-Schools in the country in 2005 by the Dalal Street
Investment Journal as well as by the AlMA-Business Standard B-School
survey. Placement Brochure 2007 presents the profiles of our ninth
batch of students who would be ready to take up leadership positions
in business and industry by mid-2007. I am sure that the profiles of these dynamics and
talented group of budding executives would match the expectations and specific
requirements of the industry and the corporate sector.
Knowingly, the perspective, structure and operation of India's corporate sector have
undergone drastic changes during the last few years. Waves of economic liberalization
propelled by advances of information technology and I. T. penetration into every aspect
of corporate operation have generated for the sector far reaching implications.
Discipline boundaries as much as the political ones are fast becoming redundant. Adoption
of a multi disciplinary approach for analyzing and understanding complex business
problems, developing global vision, gaining capability in terms of knowledge, attitude
and skill to continually draft and redraft business strategies using ever expanding knowledge
inputs in an e-enabled decision making environment and at the same time striving
persistently for precision and excellence at every stage of strategy implementation are the
prime prerequisites today for successful accomplishment of corporate growth mission.
The process, system and inputs in DBA-SMS have been designed keeping in view these
dynamics of today's national and global business situations. The focus in DBA-SMS is
on imparting the required knowledge and developing the analytical orientation, soft
skills, attitudes, values and commitment that together mould participants into brilliant
organisation leaders and powerful change agents.
The enabling academic ambience and state of the art teaching-learning infrastructure, the
updated course structure, modules and teaching pedagogy, and, above all, the careful
nurturing by a competent and dedicated faculty go hand in hand in DBA-SMS in ensuring
that the would-be executives coming out from this institution are academically rightly-
groomed, culturally sensible and fine-tuned and are mission-oriented, application focussed
and value-driven. We condition them to deal successfully with all adversities and
challenging situations. We also try to ensure that they develop an insatiable urge for
striving continually for excellence and acquire the capability to translate individual
excellence into team excellence in organisations.
I heartily invite organisations in the corporate and other sectors to participate in the
forthcoming Campus Placement session in this University. I am sure, the youthful,
exuberant, innovative and sensible would-be MBAs of this School by virtue of their
intellectual prowess, professional commitment and humane approach will prove their
worth to their respective employing organisations.
