De la Seora:
Its a blessing to see our class settling in and feeling a sense of togetherness. I have really enjoyed our time of singing together in the morning and the class enthusiasm for it. If you hear them singing in Spanish at home, ask them about it. We have also been enjoying watching our caterpillars and our chrysalises in our jar. We had a monarch hatch early this week and we are waiting for our swallowtails and (hopefully) one more monarch. Also make sure you check out my new Facebook page: www.facebook.com/senorae Upcoming Events: Sept. 18 Health screenings Sept. 19 Picture Day - please bring the order form Sept. 20 Scholastic Orders due Oct. 25 Last day of quarter Oct. 28 No school

Reminders *Check your childs schedule book each night. * Show and Tell on Fridays!

Starting next week we will have spelling words. There will only be 5 a week. We will practice them in class, but I encourage you to have your child write the words at home. I will always list the words for you with their phonetic pronunciation as well as their meaning. We are currently doing phonic work and building sight words before we begin our actual Language Arts curriculum. This will go on for a few more weeks. The words are current sight words. Spelling Words: yo (yo) NOUN: I veo (bay/oh) VERB: (I) see (the I is implied) un (oon) ARTICLE: a una (oon-ah) ARTICLE: a es (es) VERB: is (pronounced just like the letter S) - means another syllable / means the same syllable, just a separation to help you read the pronunciation more easily Also, a quick Spanish lesson. Spanish nouns are either masculine or feminine. This is easy to see in the difference of un nio (a boy) and una nia (a girl), but not as obvious in the grammatical reason of un lpiz (a pencil) versus una mesa (a table). The children will quickly pick up on the girl versus boy words due to the word endings, but right now its just being introduced.
