The First Covenant: The Rainbow Prophesy of Jesus Christ Genesis 9:12-17 12 And God said, This is the

sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth. 17 So God said to Noah, This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.

The rainbow is a refraction of the 7 colors that make up white light on the visible light spectrum; red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. The three primary colors red, yellow, and blue are used to form the remaining four colors; orange (red and yellow), green (yellow and blue), violet (red and blue), and, quasi not considered a color, indigo (dark blue which is also made from blue and red). We know a lot of mathematical and scientific facts about these colors, and their electromagnetic properties, but could they possibly also be related to Jesus Christ. In the next couple paragraphs, Im going to explain what the Lord has laid on my heart about this covenant and its prophetic relation to our risen Lord, Jesus Christ. The number seven is a number often associated with the Holy Spirit and perfection throughout the bible. In Revelation 5:6 we read 6 Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. This is the verse that stuck out to me when I was reading Genesis 9 because of the obvious correlation between eyes and light. I began to think about the seven spirits of God and how they are manifest in the life of Jesus Christ. I was very quickly reminded of three, which I understood as the three primary colors. Their relations are as follows. Red, the Spirit of Life; Jesus Christ is life. Through him and by him all things were made. Through his taking up of his own life, we were given the opportunity for eternal life. The red symbolizes Christs own life-blood which willingly spilled, as atonement for our sinful life. In Genesis 1:2 we read 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. Formless and empty can also be translated in chaos. If we parallel that with what we know about the flood we can see that the work of creation was happening in both instances. The next verse, Genesis 1:3, really exposes the parallel, 3 And God said, Let there be light, and there was light. The first thing God did after the flood was to establish his covenant with Noah by showing him the 7 properties of light, similar to his first act of creation; saying let there be light. Its awesome how the Lord works; his first flood destroyed all life, and his second flood was gushing springs of living water. But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life." John 4:14. The Spirit of Life is embodied

in such things as creation, reproduction, the resurrection of our Lord, and our life being purchased back for us thanks to the red blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Yellow is the color of the Spirit of Power. We see it in the majestic, golden mane of the lion. It elicits the thought of the flaming sword of the cherubim, the throne of God, and the all-consuming fire of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ has all power given to him by the father, through the work of the Holy Spirit. With this spirit Jesus raised the dead, healed the blind and lame, and even walked on water. Acts 1:5,8 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit... 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. The power the Holy Spirit gives us is manifest in the 9 spiritual gifts. Although the Holy Spirit gives super-human capabilities to some, like Samson and people in desperate situations, our power is marked by our humility, because our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Noah was given the power to build the ark, the power to keep two of every living creature, both male and female alive, and to replenish the earth. We are given the power to declare the name of Jesus Christ, and to perform miracles Greater than these. This face of the Holy Spirit, the spirit of Power, is represented by Yellow. The final primary color is blue (a sky blue color on the visible light spectrum). Blue is well known as the unanimous vote for favorite color. And is that surprising? Its the spiritual representation of the spirit of Love! Blue is ceremoniously used in the bible to tie things together, and as a hem on sacred robes. 1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. God is Love- Jesus Christ is Love- the Holy Spirit is Love. The Rainbow is a testimony to Gods love; he didnt destroy all life, even though he was Grieved that he had made man. Out of his love he still left a way for us to be saved. The spirit of Love is what kept Jesus on track! He sweated blood in the garden knowing what he had to do for you and me! He prayed that the cup could be taken form his hands, but he loved God and loved us enough to not call 12 legions of angles down for help. Jesus Christ didnt have to go to the cross, he chose to, out of love for us. God didnt have to leave Noah and his family, he chose to, and more than that; by choosing to leave Noah and give him the Rainbow Covenant he chose to sacrifice his own son because For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. The spirit of Love is a powerful face of the Spirit. Our walk with the Lord is useless without it. The next 4 colors are a little bit harder to place, but with the guidance of the Holy Spirit this is what was given to me. Let me start with the hardest of the 4- Indigo. This is the spirit of Fire. But I thought that yellow was the spirit of fire? No, yellow was the spirit of Power, indigo is the spirit of Fire. Fire, being light, is made of the 3 primary colors. If you look at a flame you will see the tip of the flame is red moving toward the center which is blue, dark blue- indigo. Blue flame is the hottest flame and as such represents the renewing or refining flame of the Holy Spirit. Isaiah 4:4 reads The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; he will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire. We often associate indigo with cleansing, its the color we usually think about when

we imagine a body of water. These cleansing parallels are very similar to the cleansing of the earth at the time of the flood, and the cleansing of the church by the flood of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit cleanses the Saints with the infinite heat of the Holy Spirit and at the same time cleanses the earth of those who dont believe. Indigo is produced with a small amount of red in blue. The small amount of red blood and the infinite blue love of the Holy Spirit mix to testify to the refining fire or cleansing fire in each of our lives. Out of Isaiah 4:4 we also get the orange spirit of Judgment, or the Spirit of Truth. Another color and spirit closely associated with the perfect righteousness of God the Father. Where Indigo flame consumes, orange flame only hurts, hurts a lot. But we can rejoice at this because Hebrews 12:5-6 tells us My son, do not make light of the Lords discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, 6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son. The spirit of Truth is what convicts the Saints to repent. It burns and nags our spirit man to repentance and kills the flesh. The spirit of Truth is holy, loving discipline. I think the secular phrase Light a fire under his a$$! was pretty close to what the Holy Spirit did when convicting Noah to build the ark. Noah wouldnt have had much room for repentance had he not built the ark. We can be sure Noah was faced with the worldly truth of his friends that there wasnt going to be a flood, and the divine spirit of Truth telling him to build the Ark, thankfully for us all he was convicted to do it. We know he wasnt perfect either; one of his first accomplishments in the post flood world was to pass out naked and drunk. Thank God for the spirit of Truth. Red and Yellow mix in order to get orange. Christs blood and his mighty power work in conjunction to prompt us to perfection with each passing sin and trial. We grow into our roles as kings and queens in the kingdom of God through the Lords discipline from the spirit of Truth. Violet or Purple is the easiest of the non-primary colors to identify a spirit with; the spirit of Holiness. Purple is the royal color of the divine priesthood, which we are part of. Purple represents Christs kingship, his rule over all of creation. Psalms 93:1 The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure. Purple represents Christs Kingship, our dominion over the earth, and our future establishments as royalty in the kingdom of God. We should also be exercising our entitlements and responsibilities as adopted children in the Royal Priesthood. This brings us to the beautiful color green; a representation of nature; Gods divine wisdom in creation. Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world Gods invisible qualitieshis eternal power and divine naturehave been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.- The spirit of Wisdom. We have eyes, but a lot of the time we dont see. This world was made for our 5 senses, so we can understand the unspeakable nature of God. Jesus spoke in parables because a large amount of what needs to be understood about God can only be expressed in an unspeakable language. The spirit of Wisdom speaks to our heart in this unspeakable language and we can sense it. Jesus Christ was the human manifestation of Gods divine nature. We can see the spirit of Wisdom taught Peter the identity of Christ in Matthew 16:13-17 13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, Who do people say the Son of Man is?

14

They replied, Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.
15

But what about you? he asked. Who do you say I am? Simon Peter answered, You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.

16

17

Jesus replied, Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. We also know that Noah had the spirit of Wisdom. Noah built the ark because of his spiritual wisdom. Beyond that would God choose someone without the spirit of Wisdom to replenish the earth? So we can see that green represents the spirit of Wisdom through Gods earthly creation. Lastly we have to make mention of White, which is all the colors. Just like Jesus embodies all the characteristics of the Holy Spirit in infinite capacity, light also embodies all the colors. The seven colors represent to perfection of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God is Light. 1 John 1:5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. Through Noah the first covenant was established and he was given a beautiful visual prophesy of Jesus Christ. Pagans hear about the rainbow as a promise from God to not flood the world. Contrary, we, as lovers of Christ, get to rejoice that the rainbow is a promise that God has, and continues to flood the world with his living water. God has made himself abundantly clear to all those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. Just look around you! God is everywhere, get outside and take a walk; breathe the breath of God and look at his majesty, wisdom, and love in nature- in the vibrant colors! Look for him in the numbers he has hidden, search for him and you will find him. His church is an exclusive church, its reserved for those who care to find him!
