Locked rotor readings of V, I and power input at a suitable reduced voltage are to be measured. This is specified in clause 21.1 e) . Locked rotor readings of V, I, power input & torque at a suitable reduced voltage are to be measured.

Stray load losses

What is Stray Load Loss?
Losses produced by the load current in active iron and other metal parts other than conductors; eddy current losses in winding conductors caused by load current-dependent flux pulsations

Present standard assumes stray load losses as 0.5% of the shaft output and there is no method for measuring the same. The new revised standard specifies method for determination of stray load losses.

Efficiency calculation considering stray load losses

Methods to determine stray load loss
From a load test with direct measurement of torque using a torque transducer as per clause 8.2.2.5.1 of IEC 60034-2-1 Ed 1.0
From a test with rotor removed and a reverse rotation test as per clause 8.2.2.5.2 of IEC 60034-2-1 Ed 1.0

From an Eh-Star method as per clause 8.2.2.5.4 of IEC 60034-2-1 Ed 1.0

From assigned allowance as per clause 8.2.2.5.3 of IEC 60034-2-1 Ed 1.0- the value of additional load loss at rated load may be determined as a percentage of input power P1 using the graph - monogram. The curve does not represent an average but an upper envelope of a large number of measured values, and may in most cases yield greater additional load losses than 8.2.2.5.1 or 8.2.2.5.2 ( as in 1 above)
