A journal entry is a personal recount. It is informal. It is usually used
to recount daily events and often includes the expression of feelings
and reflection on the events that had happened. The first statement
of a journal entry generally gives an overview of what the entry
would be about. For example: I had a wonderful time at the Bird Park
today.
Language
• First Person Personal Nouns
Eg: I need to remind myself to be more careful next time.
• The Simple Present Tense and the Simple Past Tense
Eg: This afternoon, my cousin and I took part in a drawing
contest.
I am so happy that we won the second prize!
• Adverb Clauses of Time (Time Connectors)
The journal entry relates the progression of someone’s day,
we use time connectors to link actions and events.
Eg: Before I ate at the café, I went to buy a doll for my
cousin. After a while, I had lunch. Later, I went to the book
shop to get some stationery. I finally went home at 6 p.m.
• Vocabulary
