Which law did Jesus nail to the cross?

Ephesians 2:15 - Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances Colossians 2:14, 16, 17 - Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

The law of commandments contained in ordinances (Ephesians 2:15), was handwritten (Colossians 2:14) and contained meat, drink, holyday, new moon, and sabbath days (Colossians 2:16), which are described as a shadow of things to come (Colossians 2:17).

Hebrews 10:1, 4, 6, 8-10 - For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Hebrews 9:12 - Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

The law of commandments contained in ordinances (Ephesians 2:15), comprising a shadow of things to come (Colossians 2:17; Hebrews 10:1), had services of burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin (Hebrews 10:6), and was taken away through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 10:10) and by His own blood (Hebrews 9:12).

Deuteronomy 31:24-26 - And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished, That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying, Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

Exodus 24:3, 4 - And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do. And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.

The book, spoken of in Hebrews 9:19, is the book of the law (Deuteronomy 31:26), which was written by Moses (Deuteronomy 31:24; Exodus 24:4) and placed outside the ark (Deuteronomy 31:26). These handwritten ordinances (Colossians 2:14) consisted of meat offerings (Hebrews 9:10; Leviticus 2:1), drink offerings (Hebrews 9:10; Leviticus 23:13), holy days (Numbers 28:16-18; Numbers 29:1), new moons (1 Chronicles 23:31), and various sabbath days which fell on any day of the week (Leviticus 16:29-31; Leviticus 23:24, 25; Leviticus 23:39).

Who spoke the Ten Commandments to the people? Exodus 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying, Exodus 20:2-17.

Who wrote the Ten Commandments and where was it placed? Exodus 31:18 - And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

Deuteronomy 9:15-17 - So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands. And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God, and had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you. And I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes. Deuteronomy 10:1-5 - the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood. And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark. And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand. And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me. And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the LORD commanded me.

God himself, spoke the Ten Commandments to the people (Exodus 20:1) and He wrote the Ten Commandments with His own finger, on the tables of stone (Exodus 31:18). These were given to Moses, who placed them in the ark (Deuteronomy 10:4, 5).

Conclusion In conclusion, the law of commandments contained in ordinances (Ephesians 2:15), comprising a shadow of things to come (Colossians 2:17; Hebrews 10:1), was written by Moses in a book (Deuteronomy 31:24; Exodus 24:4) called the book of the law (Deuteronomy 31:26), and placed outside the ark (Deuteronomy 31:26). This law contained in ordinances, which consisted of various offerings and sacrifices (Hebrews 10:6), pointed to the coming savior, who, as a sacrificial lamb (John 1:29, 36), would die for the sins of mankind (Hebrews 9:12; 10:10, 12). When Jesus died on the cross, the law contained in ordinances was fulfilled (Luke 24:44), and therefore, was no longer needed. So it was abolished (Ephesians 2:15), taken out of the way, blotted out, nailed to the cross (Colossians 2:14).

The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17), was written with the finger of God (Exodus 31:18; Deuteronomy 10:4) on tables of stone (Exodus 31:18; Deuteronomy 10:2, 4), and was placed in the ark (Exodus 31:18; Deuteronomy 10:4, 5). These commandments, summarized by Jesus (Mark 10:29-31; Deuteronomy 6:4, 5; Leviticus 19:18), will stand forever (Psalms 111:7, 8), and God requires that we keep them (Matthew 19:17; John 14:15, 21; John 15:10; 1 John 2:3, 4; 1 John 5:2, 3). Gods last day people will be persecuted for keeping His commandments (Revelation 12:17; Revelation 14:12).

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14)

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. (Revelation 22:14)
