How to do File System data Restoration in Netbackup


Step-1: Check for master server connectivity credentials in question Go the OAMP jump box click on JAVA CONSOLE VIEWER (refer figure 1)

(Figure 1) Step-2: Select/type you NBU master server name user name password click on Login. (Refer figure 2)

(Figure 2) Step-3: Go to Backup,Archive and Restore click on Specify Machines to use and policy type for the backup or restore.. (Refer figure 3)

(Figure 3) Step-4: Select media server Server to use for backups and restores select Source client for restores (This the client box name whose backup is happening) Select Destination client for restores (On which client box you wish to restore) select Policy type for restores (Regarding Policies: If you are doing restoration for windows client then select policy as MS_Windows-NT for unix its different .. You can select your appropriate policy for the drop-down menu.) click on OK button. (Refer figure 4)

Step-5: Click on Date Range Icon and select you desire backup date for which the restoration is in question. i.e. backup start date and end date. (Refer figure 5 and 6)

(Figure 6) Step-6: Now you will see the backed up files/directories hierarchy go to your desire restoration source path and tick the box(s) to select source path. (Refer figure 7)

(Figure 7) Step-7: After selecting the desired source directories/files click on preview. This will tell you whether the selected directories/files are residing on media/disk image If media then you need to insert that media in the library... If disk then no need to check for media you can continue with the restore. (Refer figure 8)

(Figure 8) Step-8: Click on Restore button. (Refer figure 9 and 10)

Step-9: Here you have to select destination path (Where the data has to be restored) Select radio button Restore individual directories and files to different locations Change selected destination(s). (Refer figure 11)

(Figure 11) Step-10: Type destination path. (Type the full path with filename, if any required) click on OK button. (Refer figure 12)

(Figure 12) Step-11: Now you are ready to start your restoration click on Start Restore Once you have selected/deselected your desire options as mentioned in the request ticket. This will start your restoration. (Refer figure 13)

(Figure 13) Step-12: Click on Task Progress to view status of restoreAlso you can check same from Activity Monitor. (Refer figure 14, 15 and 16)

Once you see message as Restoration completed successfully You have successfully done restoration Also you can check on the client side on the destination path.
