Purpose of the position

Provide support to the Executive Direction and Conservation for the development of the Climate Change and Footprint agenda with emphasis on the COP20 preparation and the business and industry strategies for footprint reduction. This position supports the delivery of conservation results in the Peru office in alignment with WWFs conservation goals.

3. Major duties and responsibilities: Develops a detailed action plan for the implementation of the Smart Cities concept in Peru and its integration with the Earth Hour campaign and to identify the opportunities a long term initiative for Lima. Works with the Program Staff and Key partners for the identification of key messages about climate change, its impacts, adaptation measures and mainstream science-based information. Monitors and disseminate relevant scientific developments on climate change impacts and adaptation strategies, particularly as they affect biodiversity and people in Peru. Prepares, on demand, information dossiers on water, energy and corporate practices for footprint reduction. Provides support to corporate footprint reduction initiatives in coordination with the Communications Direction and relevant consultants. Supports the Executive Direction and Conservation Direction for the development of a technical and policy proposal for the increase of non-conventional renewable energy (NCRE) sources contribution to the national energy pool. Supports the Executive Direction and Conservation Direction for the design and implementation of a detailed roadmap for the ZNDD plan of the Peruvian Amazon. Acts as the main focal point in WWF Peru for the communications and coordination related to the COP20 and its complementary activities. Provides programmatic support to the activities conducted in preparation of COP20 and those related to corporate footprint reduction, keeping updated records, work plans and periodical monitoring reports. 4. Profile Education and experience University studies in conservation, natural sciences, management, international development or a related field. A broad understanding of the various aspects of climate change adaptation methods, tools and frameworks. Specific knowledge Excellent command of Spanish and English. This is a fully bilingual position. Strong skills in the use of systems for document edition and management, planning and M&E software tools. Skills and abilities Proven ability to work as part of a team, and as part of a wider network, is essential. The commitment and drive to achieve challenging goals; a problem-solving attitude is critical.
