ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA General Requirements Manufacturing & Testing Documentation has been submitted and conforms to the applicable SA-175 Form Final Material Disposition Report was submitted & verified complete. Outstanding punch list items (pre-shipment inspection) are identified for tracking & follow-up. NCRs detail final disposition and resolution. Portable Fire Extinguishing Equipment types are one of the following per SAES-B-019, Table 1 (See Excel Sh # 2 Attached): A) Portable hand held type extinguishers (4 types) Pressurized Water 9.5 L Class A (SAMS 21-104-550). CO2 with nonmetal horn 4.5 Kg Type BC (21-102-223). Dry Chemical 12.2 Kg Class BC (hydrocarbon plant) (21-102-820). Multi-purpose Dry Chemical Class ABC (21-102-775). B) Wheeled cart type extinguisher (2 types) Dry Chem 68 Kg Type BC for hydrocarbon plants (21-106-650). CO2 with dual 23 kg (50 lb) cylinders Type BC (21-106-690) C) Twin agent Extinguishers (Unit Skid or trailer) Portable Extinguishers must be one of the types listed above Exceptions to Class 21 SA stock numbers listed above must be reviewed & approved by Chief Fire Prevention Engineer. All portable fire extinguishers are "listed" as approved by a testing authority, either Underwriters Labs (UL) or Factory Mutual (FM). Dry Chem 12.2 Kg Class BC (SAMS-21-102-840) extinguishers use Purple K (potassium bicarbonate) as the extinguishing agent. Multi-purpose Dry Chemical Class ABC (SAMS-21-02-775) extinguishers use monoammonium phosphate (extinguishing agent). Extinguisher unit mounting components are supplied with extinguishers and meet manufacturer's recommended guidelines. Two-wheel cart-type Dry Chem 68 Kg Type BC extinguishers (specified in Table 1) come with a manufacturer's cover provided. Contractor can provide a cover OR a shelter must be built. NFPA 10 Requirements (Classification, Marking, etc) Instruction manuals are provided to detail instructions & cautions for extinguisher installation, operation, inspection, & maintenance. Extinguisher operating instructions are located on the front of the extinguisher & are clearly visible (with manufacturer's label). Extinguisher Classification Labels (on front) are as follows: A) Letters (A, B, C, D) show fire class extinguisher effectiveness. B) Class A & B are preceded by a rating number (effectiveness). Extinguisher Labels such as Hazardous material id system, six-year maintenance & hydrotest labels are attached, but not on front. Markings located on front of fire extinguisher shells are of adequate size & form to permit easy reading (legibility) at 1 meter. Pictorial concept markings combine extinguisher use & nonuse on a single label. Fire extinguishers suitable for more than one fire class are identified by multiple symbols in a horizontal sequence.
