Flasher
MCU (Master Control Unit processor) : main software of phone.Higher version = less bugs in software = less
reseting
PPM (Post Programable Memory) : The different language packages are loaded into the post-programmable
memory (PPM).
The PPM includes language translations, character sets, rining tones and operator names.
PMM a EEPROM (Electrically Erasable and Programmable Read Only Memory) :
In older models (3210,5110,61xx) is EEPROM chip on board (24C16,24C128).
In new models (33xx,62xx,71xx,82xx) is emulated in FLASH memory.

Nokia Firmware Code List
Here's a list of Nokia firmware codes I gathered from various sources. It is incomplete and may contain errors. The
first table is sorted by phone model number; the second by the software codes.
To reveal the version number, either:
• press *#0000# on the main screen. This trick applies to all GSM models since the 6110.
• Check the Type: code on the barcode label at battery compartment.
