WHAT YOU DO HERE... COUNTS OUT THERE

UNDERSTANDING THIS REPORT

This report provides employment statistics for graduates of Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning who completed their education in the Summer and Fall 2011 and Winter 2012. The report is based on statistics gathered by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and is a component of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which were introduced in 1998. The KPIs measure the effectiveness of Ontario colleges in the following areas: Graduate Employment Rate Employer Satisfaction Graduate Satisfaction Student Satisfaction Information is gathered from Conestoga graduates through a standardized telephone survey, conducted by Forum Canada Research, an organization contracted by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. According to this years results, close to 90 per cent of Conestoga graduates (88.9) found employment within six months of graduation, despite a challenging job market. That exceeds the graduate employment rate of any other college in southwestern Ontario and the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). Conestoga also ranked first among this large group of colleges for graduate satisfaction, with 83 per cent of graduates indicating that their college experience was useful in achieving their goals after graduation. More than 92 per cent of employers who recently hired Conestoga graduates described themselves as satisfied or very satisfied with the graduates college preparation. Conestogas employer satisfaction rating has exceeded 90 per cent every year since the survey was initiated. The survey of graduates to collect employment information occurs approximately six months following the completion of a full-time degree, diploma or certificate granting Ministry funded program. Statistics are collected three times each year. All information in this report was collected by Forum Canada, directly from each graduate following the guidelines of the Freedom of Information Act. This process was used for all of Ontarios Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology. CCI Research compiled the statistics. Note: Full-time employment is defined as one position of 30 or more hours per week. Part-time employment is defined as one position of less than 30 hours per week.

GRADUATE EMPLOYMENT REPORT | 2013/2014 2011/2012

EMPLOYER TESTIMONIALS

It has been a wonderful experience working with the co-op students of the Health Informatics Program, Conestoga College. These individuals have been a great resource to the planning and implementation of a new electronic Policy and Procedure software program. The ideas and energy they bring to the team enriches our learning; they have been a great addition to our team. Elizabeth Krestick, Senior Manager, Patient Relations & Quality Waterloo Wellington CCAC

Some of the programs D&D recruits co-op students from are Mechanical Engineering TechnologyRobotics and Automation, Mechanical Systems Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering) and Electrical Engineering Technology. Students from these programs have already been exposed to technologies they will need to use on the job. Students who have work experience in their related field of study make the best full-time employees. Conestogas coop programs do a great job of preparing students for full-time employment. Jason Carter, Controls Supervisor D&D Automation Inc.

Conestoga students are eager to learn and functional right out of the gate. Theyre better than some people weve had with ten years of experience and a better choice than anyone off the street. They are definitely a better way to go. Joe Mathison, Head of CNC Production Bolton Railing Inc.

Staebler Insurance Brokers has participated in the Conestoga co-op program for a number of years and many of the co-op students have chosen to stay with us. It has been a great experience helping to train and mentor our new staff into becoming insurance brokers! Catherine Coulson, Consultant, Human Resources Staebler Insurance Brokers
