1. Start with two completed granny squares. If you need a refresher on how to make these check out I Heart Stitchings Granny Square Tutorial on You Tube. Its great and she shows you how to join too!

2. Join your squares together. Again, if you need a refresher, see the above mentioned video tutorial. Tie in your ends. I find it easier to tie in my ends as I go. Its my least favorite part!

3. Now lets work on the sweater part. You are going to add a row of SC crochet to the outer edge of the mug sweater. SC in each stitch across {15 SC}, chain 2, turn. DC in each stitch across {15 DC}, chain 1 turn. SC in each stitch across {15 SC} then finish off. Repeat on the other side of your mug sweater. Again, tie in your ends before moving on to the next step.

4. Find the center of the edge (about 7 stitches in) and draw up your yarn. Chain 10.

5. Slip stich your chain and finish off. I triple knotted it to the back side to secure it.

6. Measure your mug sweater around your mug to see where you need to place your button. Attach securely with yarn and your yarn needle. Again, I triple knotted it to the back side.

DONE! Now go make yourself a cup of tea and cozy up on the couch with a good book!

The mug I used is a solid white mug from Cost Plus Word Market. It measures 10 in circumference. Measure your mug first to make sure it has similar measurements. If not, you may need to adjust the pattern slightly to fit your mug.
