Before I stepped in as a governor, I really asked myself if I have the abilities necessary to lead a student body.

Ive tried to ask my Father what he wanted me to do. Throughout the years, this was the biggest question I asked to myself. Im aware of my capacities and abilities I can do for a thing but for a BIGGER one, im silent about it. Im a type of person who takes risk even when I dont know what they are. Im a type of person who takes responsibility to see my worth living in this earth. If I dont try, how can I learn and grow if the opportunity knocks on me but I pursue to refuse it? Then god gave me the answer. Its the wisdom of life. The moment you stop accepting challenges is the moment your life ends. I wanted to live. To live a life with meaning a life that is surrendered to Him.

Now, in this administration, I never looked down and always pushed myself to set the standards high. I am proud to say and report to you my achievements in the school year 2011-2012:

First Semester 1. PSNA Election R: Due to deteriorating interest of the student body in politics, I decided to facilitate the activity with the permission of the right authority to form dignified leaders in the organization for the program that will value responsibility and service and will leave a legacy to last. 2. FSUU Nursing SSG (SY: 2011-2012) Facebook Page R: Though not the first one, but it has been the most active and accurate with information disseminated yet. It serves as an online bulletin board for the nursing students to have an easy access of updates and information through internet while at home. 3. Year Level Coordinators R: Created an extension to the Nursing SSG structure mainly to provide adequate updates to the mayors (Mayors Guild) and facilitate the students within their level the concerns and other problems concerning their academics or non-academics. 4. An intensive seminar/workshop that deals with the duties and responsibilities of each officer, student rights, law and constitution, etc. 5. Nursing Leaders Institute (Team Building Relationship) R: A workshop that I structured for the leaders in the Nursing Program. This was conducted to develop the knowledge and skills of leadership and management and strengthen the relationship of each officer valuing unity and teamwork. This was attended and made possible by the ever proactive and brilliant Mr. Paul Delfin Jamero, RN, MAN who have shared his insights and experiences as a leader himself. 6. Financial Statement Reports R: Issued on monthly basis on the bulletin board of the SSG to abide with 7. Community Health Nursing Equipments Expansion > Free leasing of CHN Stands, Tarpaulin Backdrop, Cloth, Water Jugs, and Health Related Brochures/Flyers

R: As realized, the items mentioned above are really very useful for the students nowadays. Need they not provide for themselves the abovementioned thus to spare from additional expense. The nursing students used their creativity in heading presentations as believed that nursing is an art. 7. General Orientation (June R: A more fun and interactive activity which was participated by the students and faculty of the Nursing Program with Office of Student Affairs. Presentation of the new set of officers (SSG, PSNA, NPEN), financial statements from the last years administration, intermission number of the Psychiatric Affiliates, showcase of the different uniforms of the Nursing Program and an open forum were the main highlights of the event. This is annually done to provide a preview on what to expect from the Nursing Program, its revised policies and updates for the incoming school year. 8. Cross-over Ceremony & Acquaintance Party R: Cross-over ceremony in its second time around made a big impact to the university as a new traditional event to welcome the new students in FSUU especially the first years. The nursing students participated the activity enjoying the loud music and all moving like McJagger. 9. Credit Hours System R: As per mandate by the Technical Assistant for Student Concerns, Ms. Sheryl Mae S. Leyrita, RN, MAN, giving of credit hours shall be stringently given out due to increasing number of tardiness and absences in the duty/classes. Weve constructed a tabulation of different event or committees with the corresponding credit hours for the students. 11. Food distribution run smoothly and heard a feedback from a student that the food is tasty.

15. Nursing Days Celebration 2012 R: The main highlight of our administration had come! Realizing that the Nursing Program will be on its 20th year. Weve never set to our mind that this years nursing days will be a big one because of the decreasing population thus decreasing the budget for conducting enormous event. As we get through our planning stages, weve realized that it was not the problem. Its the dedication and passion of a leader on how he is determined to serve the studentry . As I remember, my officers and me sacrificed a lot just to make the event the bigger and better than before. Forcing ourselves to keep the standards high and maintain the wisdom that God had given us. Nursing at 20 with the theme Excellence, Passion and Commitment: Bloodline for 20 years set to be the most remarkable and meaningful one. 20 years represents the gemstone Emerald or green. Weve decided to relate it with Mother Earth which is our nature. Supported by Florence Nightingale in her Environmental theory, we collide it as one and make a history as we plotted series of activities/event related to environment that will bring out awareness to the society and make a change. As what Florence Nightingale said Patients are to be put in the best condition for nature to act on them, it is the responsibility of nurses to reduce noise, to relieve patients anxieties, and to help them sleep. Weve dedicated this tremendous event not only for the students but also to the faculty and those whove been part in the Nursing Program. Whats also new now is that the program was divided into three guild for a fair competition and each guild must have representative for each game/event. Videography Workshop with Clint Ong-Canete was conducted a month before the celebration to accompany the crews/cast in the Nurses Tales Short Films for a better and resolutionary outcome. Seconded with Strengthening Environmental Exhibit a week before the celebration to maximize awareness of the solution to degrading environment condition. Showcase of the different events of the Nursing Days 2012 was done at the same time though posters, tarpaulins, audio-visual presentation and plant give aways. Opening Program on its first day with the main highlight of Aeromarathon and Cheerdance Competition. The activity prospers lively spirit and eventful cheers. Nursing Quiz Bowl 1 and 2 are now the Laro ng Nurses 1 and 2 as we created a new level of excitement of games to be fully enjoyed by the students and faculty. Basketball Invitiational Game (Men) was played between FSUU Nursing Program and Butuan Doctors College Nursing Program in the late afternoon. Loud cheers and chants were driven off by the audience and got overwhelmed the participants played. The game end successfully with pride and honor to the school represented. Nurses Tales Short Films formerly Cine Originals 2011 showcased variety of talent in acting and editing by the nursing students in their 15 minutes short film Nurses Life and Nursing Promotional Video. Nursing Research Festival on the second day facilitated by the Nursing Faculty and Nursing is an Art Exhibit: Recycled Art Exhibit showcasing the different inventions of the nursing students made from recycled medical supplies. Multiaudiences witnessed and appreciated the products made. Tree Planting Activity early on the third day at Brgy. Punta, Nasipit, ADN was facilitated by the Philippine National Police and in partnership with Department of Environment and Natural Resources and City Environment and Natural Resources. Many nursing students participated the event through planting trees nearby the seashore. The goal of the activity is to counteract climate change and deforestation. Essay Writing Contest, Poster Making Contest and the new Slogan Making contest was facilitated by the Nightingales Pen Staffers.

The Talents Night which was facilitated by the Philippine Student Nurses Associatoon (PSNA) officers present the unique and more interactive activity which cater camaraderie and excitement to the audiences. Main highlight of the event was the Vocal Duet, Dance Showdown and Trashion Show a fashion show made out of recycled materials. The event was inspired from the noon-time show of ABS-CBN Showtime. Fun Run and Aerobics was done early on the last day of celebration, which I loved most because of high number of participants and super lively participation with the students and clinical instructors during the aerobics. Inter-guild Basketball Championship and Basketball invitational Game (Women) FSUU Nursing Program vs. FSUU Law Enforcement Academy was next after. Lastly, the Nightingales Ball, the greatest and grandest event of all. With all the efforts to successfully achieve our goal for the Nursing Days just to make the night YOUR NIGHT. The ball was held at Inland Resort Convention Hall and was facilitated by the Mugna Productions of Hotel and Restaurant Management students of FSUU. The night was captured with the beauty of how the nursing student can stand despite of all the hardwork and perseverance in academics. This just proved that Nursing Program of FSUU have its excellence, passion and commitment. Efforts of the nursing student were recognized and awarded during the night. DUNGAGI PLEASE?? Na-bulok nako.. HEHE! :* In the 20 years of existence of the Nursing Program, I am greatly honored and privileged to do my part in making its celebration a success. It has not only been my stepping stone towards being a student leader it has as well been the greatest achievement yet I have done. Being a leader was the most amazing thing that happened to me. I was able to experience far more wonderful experiences than an average student does. It may sound to be cool but again, it is not the easiest thing to do. This administration would not have been successful without the help of each and every people behind all this. First and foremost, to the Heavenly Father, who has been my purest source of strength and wisdom all through-out. To the most wonderful team in the whole wide world, my SSG officers from the Vice-governor down to the level coordinators, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! These are the kind of people youd want to work with. Without them, every activity that the SSG facilitates wouldnt be as successful as it had been. And of course, he could not be forgotten, my mentor, my best and my worst critic, Sir Frederick Amihan, sir, without your guidance, trust and headship, everything would not turn out this way. And to my family and friends, the Mudshakerz & Ballerz, my n-40 family and to my other-half, Thank you so much for your never-ending support to which nobody else can equal. To the new set of officers, Id like to leave a legacy of what I have shown and shared. Just bring out the best of what you can take and never lose hope. Just take a risk. Go for it. I think if you crash and burn trying, it's still going to be better than if you never tried at all.

I've come to believe that each of us has a personal calling that's as unique as a fingerprint - and that the best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others in the form of service, working hard, and also allowing the energy of the universe to lead you. This has been your Governor, Romar Cruz speaking, saying THANK YOU SO MUCH!
