Food Web Project Handout

This assignment will help you demonstrate and further explain your understanding of the interdependency organisms in a community have with one another.

Directions: You will be researching a biome found in the world. From a biome of your choosing you will create a food web based on an ecosystem within that biome.
All organisms in the food web must be labeled by their names, if they are producers, decomposers, or consumers. All consumers must be labeled as herbivores, omnivores, or carnivores. All consumers must be labeled as primary, secondary, tertiary or quaternary. Each labeled organism must have a picture of that organism. Food webs should be easy to view and understand. Keep them organized and neat. Include a source page of credited images and information. Arrows in your food web should show the flow of energy between organisms. Be careful which direction your arrows are pointing as they should show the direction that the energy is going once consumed. (producer->consumer->decomposer)

When You have Finished:

When you have completed your food web save the file in the PowerPoint program and send it to teachername@schoolemail.edu. Your project will be combined into one entire class PowerPoint presentation and you will share your work with the class. You will need to be able to explain: -the habitat you chose -a few of the relationships found in your food web

Please utilize your checklist before sending in your presentation. It will help you make sure you have covered everything before grading.

Food Web Project Checklist:

Student did not submit presentation, or too difficult to read.

Student showed some organization but with difficulty to understand.

5-9 Student demonstrated general understanding of the direction and flow of energy within the food web. Student included pictures for most organism. Student included most labels required for the project. Student was generally well organized but with a little difficulty to understand. (too many arrows, not utilizing entire space)
