This assignment will help you demonstrate and further explain your understanding of the interdependency organisms in a community have with one another.
Directions: You will be researching a biome found in the world. From a biome of your choosing you will create a food web based on an ecosystem within that biome.
All organisms in the food web must be labeled by their names, if they are producers, decomposers, or consumers. All consumers must be labeled as herbivores, omnivores, or carnivores. All consumers must be labeled as primary, secondary, tertiary or quaternary. Each labeled organism must have a picture of that organism. Food webs should be easy to view and understand. Keep them organized and neat. Include a source page of credited images and information. Arrows in your food web should show the flow of energy between organisms. Be careful which direction your arrows are pointing as they should show the direction that the energy is going once consumed. (producer->consumer->decomposer)
Please utilize your checklist before sending in your presentation. It will help you make sure you have covered everything before grading.
o I have looked over my checklist. o I have emailed the teacher my presentation. o I am ready to present! :)
Points: 0 Student did not participate or did include arrows in the food web.
1-4 Student included few arrows and with many mistakes. (arrows going in wrong direction)
Pictures
Labels
Student did not include pictures for most organisms. Student included very few labels.
Organized
5-9 Student demonstrated general understanding of the direction and flow of energy within the food web. Student included pictures for most organism. Student included most labels required for the project. Student was generally well organized but with a little difficulty to understand. (too many arrows, not utilizing entire space)
10 Student demonstrated mastery of the concept of energy flow in the food web by having all arrows in correct direction. All organisms included pictures. All organisms were labeled properly. Project was well organized and easy to understand.
