Prydes Easifeed 17th Australian Vaulting Championships and Sydney CVI*, CVI** and CVI***
WELCOME!
Welcome to a wonderful week of vaulting at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, a week during which two very special sister events will be staged contiguously. The 17th Australian National Vaulting Championships, conducted under the Australian Vaulting Rules will share centre stage with Australias first CVI3* level competition, conducted under FEI international rules. The smaller CVI3* event will borrow the excitement and atmosphere that naturally occurs when over 154 national and international vaulters come together under one roof. An especially warm welcome to the vaulters from Mauritius, Canada, the USA and New Zealand who will turn this week into a genuinely international event. This unique two in one competition week ensures that national and/or international competition is accessible to every vaulter of nearly every age and every level of experience. Some vaulters will compete in the national arena in hopes of proving themselves in true blue Aussie tradition. Others have nominated to compete in the FEI arena in hopes of improving their standing against international competition criteria. Many vaulters will use this opportunity to try their hand simultaneously in both competition arenas. We wish all competitors, including lungers and horses, all the best in the week ahead. It is important to remember that staging dual events in this way could not have been possible without the vision and hard work of the Australian Judges Group who, over the last few years set out to rethink, re-write and refine the national rules to more closely align with the FEI rules, thus providing every grassroots beginner vaulter with a sensible skills development pathway leading upwards to the highest level of FEI competition. Certainly without the recent rules restructure this closely aligned dual competition would not have been possible. Our thanks and a very warm welcome to all members of the judges team, both national and international, including FEI judge Sue Detol from the USA, FEI judge Helma Schwarzmann from Ger-many and the Australians, FEI judge Angie Deeks and FEI candidate nominee Sarah Venamore, all of whom will be offering up their best skills to support extremely busy competition arenas over four exciting days. Not least, we acknowledge the very hard working NSW organising committee, whose members have worked through many complex issues in order to ensure all vaulters will be given the best opportunity to fulfil their competitive aspirations this week. Most notably the Organising Committee has worked hard to ensure the highest standard of horse welfare will be maintained for all horses competing across both events, horse welfare being something our sport must always value above winning. Our congratulations to the Committee, here we are, ready to commence the competition and may Jenny Denby and her team experience a week of willing volunteers and thoughtful competitors. I have no doubt that we will all enjoy the wonderful week ahead, best wishes for a successful competition and may everyone achieve the highest of scores for good horsemanship and great sportsmanship. , Chair, National Vaulting Committee

WELCOME!
Dear Participants athletes, officials, sponsors and spectators; It is with great pleasure I welcome you on behalf of Vaulting NSW and the Organising Committee to the Sydney International Equestrian Centre for our 2013 Australian National Championships and CVI. This year we host the largest vaulting event ever staged in Australia and we extend a heartfelt welcome our international guests. We are all bought together by our love of horses and our sport and I trust that many new lifelong friendships will be formed during this event. From the words of Jesse Owens: In the end, its extra effort that separates a winner from second place. But winning takes a lot more than that, too. It starts with complete command of the fundamentals. Then it takes desire, determination, discipline, and self-sacrifice. And finally, it takes a great deal of love, fairness and respect for your fellow man. Put all these together, and even if you dont win, how can you lose? Everyone coming to this event will bring their own amazing stories of triumphs and tribulations and whilst competing for your best results, if we maintain a sense of fairness and respect for our fellow competitors, then we can ultimately all be winners. May the competition be governed by fair play and reflect the true spirit of our sport and best of luck to everyone!

She also hopes to win back the Pas de Deux Championship with partner Kayla Brewer, won from 2009-11 with Nikki Stapleton. Krystle has been vaulting with Sydney Vaulting Group for over sixteen years, where she and coach Lyn Lynch have been working towards the goal of a finals finish at the World Championship for the last six years. Krystle has represented Australia at over fifteen international events, including the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky 2010, and won a first place at the last CVI in Sydney, 2011. Alicen Divita
U.S.A.
My name is Alicen Divita (Ali). I just turned 24 this past April, and have been vaulting since I was 13. I have attended 4 World Championships, and am in the pro-cess of training for the upcoming World Equestrian Games to be held in Normandy France next year. I am actually writing to you from Schppingen, Germany, where I am currently living and training with my horse Pino del Rio for the upcoming CHIO Aachen. There are lots of things within the vaulting world that I am passionate about. First of all, I really love all things related to artistry, including choreography, music, expression in all ways, even costume design. Outside of vaulting I teach yoga and I am excited about personal fitness. I am also really interested in nutrition. Thank you so much to all who have offered me a horse for the CVI. I am looking forward to meeting them and competing with you guys :) I come from a club that is known for be-ing very well structured. We give fitness tests twice a year, have very organized coaches and lungers training and are known for keeping vaulters from a young age and working them up through the ranks of international competition. Addi-tionally mom was the vice president of the American Vaulting Association
Alicen in Australia
Alicen has just completed several club clinics during her stay here in Australia. Fitness, fun and long term learning are her main goals during her clinics.

Kapiti Equestrian Vaulting Club has been running for over 18 years in New Zealand. The biggest challenge the club faces is its isolation from other clubs, although we have been blessed over the years with many overseas visitors contributing their skills to our club, and our kids have been lucky enough to have been coached by some top international vaulters including Christoff Lensing. Our top team the kiwis have competed in Germany, and we also perform throughout New Zealand, providing entertainment for events like Horse of the Year NZ, and Equidays (an equestrian field day event). We have incorporated many circus acts into our perfor-mances and as well as vaulting the kids are competent at using rings, silks and tram-polining. We have some beautiful vaulting horses at our club Razz (the grey in these photos) has been a favourite with the crowds for many years, and newer additions include Tiny (NZ Stationbred- bay at 18.2hh), and BamBam (another Stationbred/Clydesdale x roan -17.3hh), all of which have been trained by our fabulous coach Catarina Strom. Lily-Claire Palmer and Rhyanne Vasta have both been vaulting since they were 6 years old, and are members of the Kiwi team. Kapiti Equestrian Vaulting Club is located in Waikanae, a small town about an hours drive north of Wellington on the beautiful Kapiti Coast. The club is right next to a lovely river and the kids often ride down the river to the beach which is only about 15 minutes away. Vaulting practice on the beach is fun too! The Club also provides riding lessons, riding for the disabled (and vaulting), jump-ing clinics and dressage clinics. If you want to know more about us you can check out our facebook page (Kapiti Equestrian), or our website www.kapitiequestrian.com and if you are in New Zealand please come visit, we would absolutely love to see you. 12

Equiste -
NSW
Equiste was started in 2005 by Kayla Brewer and her mother Maree Mullett with the horse Zoltar. Equiste was named after Sarah Venamores Equestrian Teaching business, as Sarah was Kaylas coach in vaulting and riding from the early age of 6. Sarah contributed vastly to Kayla and Marees knowledge of horses which in turn made it possible for Equiste to be founded. With serious encouragment from the Begg family, Equiste was started up again in 2011 after a 3 year break and is currently based in inner Sydney.
Equiste currently has three vaulters under the coaching of Kayla Brewer with Angela Begg helping as rider and groom.

Harvey has been with us since late April and Jen took him back to school for the second half of term 3 hoping that with a bit of hard work the two of them would be ready to compete at Nationals. Ripplebrook Riding Centre incorporating Swan Valley RDA and Collie RDA
Ripplebrook Integrated Riding Centre is located in Stoneville, a suburb in the Darling Ranges on the outskirts of Perth, Western Australia. Offering both riding and vaulting, Ripplebrook operates under the guidance of head coach, Kay Fowler. The team we have brought to the Australian Nationals represent several Western Australian vaulting clubs, some up to 2 hours away from our base in Stoneville, with some vaulters training at multiple clubs. The vaulters competing for Ripplebrook this year are Abigail White (Ripplebrook), Verity Joyce (Ripplebrook), Kimberley Fowler (Ripplebrook), Barra-Amba Harrison (Ripplebrook), Kieran Halliday (Swan Valley), and Tarryn Graham, (Collie). Throughout the lead up to Nationals, these vaulters have been extremely dedicated, travelling up to 4 hours per training session. We are also fortunate to have Rebecca Vandepeear of the Quicksilver (SA) team, as our team reserve, and also pas de deux partner for Kimberley. Our vaulting program runs one 3 hour session every Saturday afternoon, however, especially when nearing competitions, other sessions are on offer throughout the week. Currently we have 12 vaulters in our team, ranging from the ages of 8 through to 40. We have two vaulting coaches, Kimberley Fowler and Abigail White, both of whom are competing at the 2013 Nationals. Alongside our vaulting coaches, we also have one assistant coach, and three lungers. Ripplebrook have 5 horses currently used for vaulting, 2 of which commenced training this year. This year, we will be competing on Arrow (registered as Ima Scotch Seeker). Arrow is a 10-yearold palomino quarter horse, who has been a part of the Ripplebrook team for the last 2 years. Arrow is currently used at both walk and canter, and caters for vaulters up to Novice level. Our other horses primarily work at walk, with all horses accommodating both able bodied and disabled vaulters.

Tarryn Graham- Collie RDA My names Tarryn, Ive been vaulting ever since my family and I moved to Australia four years ago. I vaulted with the South West vaulting team for the first two years of my vaulting career. When they closed down the only other vaulting closest to me was the Collie vaulting team an hour away from where I live and thats where I currently vault. I vault every Saturday morning up in Collie and during the week I go to Harvey Agri-cultural College, where I am a year 11 student studying Agriculture productions. Its not only a privilege to be able to travel over to Sydney for the Australian National Vaulting Championships with the Ripplebrook Vaulting team but its also a dream come true, I never thought that Id ever make it this far! Kieran Halliday- Swan Valley RDA Vaulting Group Kieran has been vaulting for 6 years. He started in 2007 with Swan Valley RDA Vaulting group. Coming from a horse and animal mad family, it was only a matter of time before he found a sport that he loves that in-cludes horses. Kieran started horses at 5 years of age and today, still hops bareback onto his pony, Foxy. This year Kieran has been learning groundwork with foxy and his vaulting horse, Cody. This has given him a better understanding of horses body language. A very good skill to have when running in to a horse at canter. Kieran started vaulting with Ripplebrook in the beginning of 2013. His Saturdays and some Sundays are tak-en up by vaulting. Most Saturday mornings Kieran attends Swan Valley RDA Vaulting group, where he partic-ipates and mentors the younger vaulters. He is particularly good at helping them with their warm ups. After his morning session, he starts at Ripplebrook for the afternoon session from 1p.m to 5p.m. Kieran helps out at home by looking after the 3 family horses, dogs, cat and fish. Without his help, it would not be possible to bring on new vaulting horses. Outside of vaulting, Kieran likes to spend time with his family and animals, fishing and riding motorbikes with his dad. He is also pretty good at Mine Craft. Arrow For the first time, we have brought a horse across the Nullar-bor to Sydney. Over 5 days, our support team have trucked Arrow, along with a campervan, across the country, arriving with enough time to allow Arrow to acclimatise at the proper-ty of Lyn Lynch, of Sydney Vaulting Group. Our team have been hard at work over the past months fundraising for this venture, and are excited to not only be able to compete against vaulters from all around Australia, but also view inter-national competitors, and expand their network of trainers and competitors.

Scone Equestrian
The Boyle Family commenced vaulting 10 years ago after Lyn Lynch, a child hood friend of Robyns, and Jar-rod Boyles godmother, introduced Jarrod and Justin to Equestrian vaulting. Soon all five sons were involved in the sport and Robyn was destined to follow. The Boyles have the claim to fame of having the first all-male team in Australia which included their friend Jimmy Lee-Warner. Robyn and her husband Allan established Scone equestrian in 2008. Vaulting is one of the disciplines ca-tered for at their centre; there are currently 6 competitive vaulters and two vaulting coaches training twice a week. Jarrod and Justin Boyle continue to vault and all boys still contribute to the care and training of all vaulting horses and riding ponies and horses in Scone Equestrians care. The Centres philosophy is Safety first, then fun, then learning.

Prydes Easifeed Australian Vaulting Championships and Sydney CVI*, CVI** and CVI*** Sydney Vaulting Group originated from a team of pony club members in early 1980s who became interested in this unique activity. Many horses and members have come and gone and the club is now more active than ever. We continue promote vaulting within our community, providing displays at local shows and events and many articles about vaulting in local papers. We have been the subject of TV documentaries with ABC and Foxtel and continually strive to promote the sport of vaulting in Australia. SVG is fortunate to have vaulters from all levels training together with our lovely horses and a great bunch of parents. The club is very proud and supportive of Krystle Lander, Austral-ias individual representative at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky 2010. After which Lyn Lynch, Krystle and the late Bridgford Aviator (Santa) had the fantastic opportunity to show-case vaulting in Equitanas All-Star Showcase, along side equestrian greats Stephan Peters, William Fox Pitt and Ian Frances. The two coaches of SVG were also invited to an education slot where they were able to demonstrate the use of vaulting in riding centres, as well as an elite sport. Since CVI Sydney 2011 SVG has been very busy, travelling to state and national championships across 3 states, as well as to CVI* Sydney earlier in the year. We are very proud to be an active club within Vaulting NSW and continue to strive to develop vaulting at every opportunity.
Louis Lord Louis Mature Bay 16.3hh Clydesdale/Thoroughbred Gelding Lord Louis commenced his showjumping career in Victoria and competed successfully in B grade. He has competed throughout Vic & NSW and previous owner Somersby Equestrian Centre used him for overseas clients and students and for riders rehabilitating after injury. His retirement from showjumping in 2007 allowed his career change when he joined SVG in March 2008. By April he had his first start in C grade, and by June was competing in B grade and canter pas de deux. In August that year Lord Lou-is carried SVGs first Canter team freestyle. Since then Louis generous nature allowed Australias first ever WEG team to train and qualify for Kentucky 2010 and the further development of teams within SVG. His other claims to fame include introducing vaulting into the training of indigenous track riders, Tafe students and general equestrian coaches. Fritz 12 year old Chestnut Warmblood Gelding Fritz is the latest hoofed member of SVG. Trained to elementary dressage, his big movement and big heart make him the perfect vaulting horse in training. His first competition, NSW state champs 2012, was a huge leap of faith, where he stepped in to take the workload of a club horse that was lame. Since then, he hasnt looked back, and in just over a year is carrying all levels of individuals and teams in competition and at home. He is a fast learner, and after only a few competitions is showing huge potential as a horse for vaulters competing at higher levels.
