This warm-hearted comedy tells the story of the surprising friendship that grows between the tenacious Daisy
Werthan, an independent Jewish widow, and Hoke, the soft-spoken black chaffeur hired by her son after she
crashes another car. At first, stubbornness and cultural prejudices cause much friction, but Daisy, Hoke and her
son, Boolie, grow over the span of 25 years, during the tidal waves of change in the American South.
