I am a Biology Graduate from the University of Southampton who can work well under pressure and has a high level of attention to detail. I am confident within both laboratory and clinical environments due to the experience I gained from my degree and past employment. I am eager to start working in a position that will allow me to utilize my laboratory experience as well as develop it in a professional position.
Education
University of Southampton, 2:2 BSc Biology 2009-2012 - Undertook and managed largely independent ecological survey during summer of first year. - Gained significant laboratory experience throughout my studies. Barton Peveril College, A level 2007-2009 - Human Biology (B), Maths (B) and Chemistry (C). Hamble Community Sports College, GCSE 2005-2007 - 8 GCSEs A-C, including Maths (A), Science (A), and English (B).
Work Experience
Pensworth Dairy, Production Administrator 2013 - Responsibilities included checking emails, making phone calls, and inputting data onto spreadsheets. - Required attention to detail as I would have to spot discrepancies between milk production figures and milk actually required by our customers. - Developed key communication skills, as I was in continuous verbal contact with people on many levels within the dairy and out. Pensworth Dairy, Laboratory Technician 2012-2013 - Responsibilities included routine testing of milk samples to strict legal guidelines, responding to customer complaints, and general laboratory maintenance and upkeep. - Required high levels of attention to detail as I had to ensure milk delivered to and produced by the dairy were up to legal standards. - Allowed me to further develop my laboratory experience in a professional environment. Moorgreen NHS Hospital, Housekeeping Assistant 2007-2011 - Responsibilities included cleaning, stock resupplying, training new staff and catering to patients. - Adhered to NHS guidelines on hygiene and safety, as I was working in a largely clinical environment.
Interests
Member of the university Chess Club D-team, which competed against other universities and organizations in an inter-university league. An active member of the university Computer Games Society, where I participated in numerous tournaments and events. I jog on a regular basis as I believe in the importance of personal fitness.
Additional Information
Fluent English speaker. Full clean drivers licence acquired 20/02/2009 as well as my own car. Possesses an Enhanced Disclosure Statement acquired 08/09/2012. Eligible to work in the UK.
