Over $37,000 Seized In Drug And Money Laundering Investigation Presented To Agencies
A combined effort by the McLennan County Criminal District Attorneys Office and the McGregor Police Department led to the seizure and forfeiture of over $37,000 in cash related to a drug and money laundering investigation. Pursuant to an interlocal agreement, the District Attorneys office and police agencies divide proceeds from civil forfeiture cases litigated by the District Attorneys office. Since January 2013, our office has seized and forfeited over $319,000 in cash, vehicles, and other items from convicted felons. Since 2011, when District Attorney Abel Reyna took office, over $764,000 in cash and assets have been collected by the DAs office. That money has been used to help law enforcement agencies throughout McLennan County combat crime in our communities.
