Identify materials that float on water. III. Identify materials that absorb water. Learning outcomes IV. Identify materials that can be stretched. V. Identify materials that allow light to pass through. VI. Measure time using the correct technique. VII. Measure the mass of an object using the correct technique. VIII. measure the volume of a liquid using the correct technique. In year 3, pupils have studied the ability of some materials to absorb water. Different types of Prior knowledge material can absorb different amount of water. They have also studied the importance of these materials ability to absorb water. Besides this, they have also studied the conductors and non-conductors of electricity.

Each material has its own properties. Different materials have different properties. These properties can be identified by different testing method.

1. Teacher begins the lesson by recall back what have leant by the pupils during the last lesson. 2. Teacher asks question: a) What have you learnt during the lesson yesterday? b) Which material can conduct electricity and heat as well?

Development (50 minutes)

Revision from unit 4, lesson 4 to unit 5, lesson 2.

1. Teacher shows the pupils the correct techniques to measure mass, volume, and time. 2. Teacher helps the pupils to do revision before the exam next week. 3. Teacher discusses the answers in the workbook together with the pupils. 4. Teacher teaches the pupils the correct techniques to answer question during the exam.

Reflection (5 minutes) The standard units for: a) measuring volume of liquids- millilitre and litre b) measuring time second, minute and hour c) measure mass milligram, kilogram and gram All objects are made of materials including those we use in everyday life. Objects can be classified according to the materials such as wood, metal, glass, rubber or plastic. 1. Teacher summarizes what has been learned in the lesson today. 2.
