IV. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Majority of the worlds water is salt water it has 97.5 from its oceans. only 2.5 percent is fresh water. The main focus of this research is to significantly increase the world's supply of fresh water for drinking and other purposes including the human consumptions or irrigations. With this population of us humans getting bigger and bigger every year, we dont know how much supply of fresh and drinkable water we still have . It can become a very big problem not just in our country but also for the whole world . Because of these matter we would like to study and know any alternatives in case of the water shortage problem, so when the time comes we are prepared .

V. REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Local Literature

In chemistry, desalination is the process that removes the excess salt and other minerals from water in order to obtain fresh water suitable. "Desalination is one process that will help create an additional source of public water supply and help keep the groundwater aquifers from being drained dry". ( http://www.fi.edu/guide/schutte/desalination.html )

using reclaimed water to water lawns and landscapes, to cool power plants and to recharge groundwater supplies will also help conserve our natural water supply. Although it is often clean enough to drink, reclaimed water is kept out of the public water supply.

Local Study

In other studies desalination (also called desalinization and desalting) is the process of removing dissolved salts from water, thus producing freshwater from seawater or brackish water. Desalting technologies can be used for many applications. The most prevalent use is to produce potable water from saline water for domestic or municipal purposes. Of the worlds water, 97.5 percent is salt water from its oceans. only 2.5 percent is fresh water. Of that 2.5 percent, approximately 69 percent Is Frozen In Glaciers And Ice Caps, Leaving Less Than 0.75 Percent In Fresh Groundwater. Today, Developments In Desalination Technologies Are Specifically Aimed At Reducing Energy Consumption And Cost, As Well As Minimizing Environmental Impacts. VII. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The aim of this study is to convert salt water into fresh water through the process of Desilination.

1. How effective this desalination process was? 2. Does desalination process can really help water shortage? 3. Can it help future water shortage?

VIII. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study will help us create new source of drinking water for our future use. This study will let people know an alternative source of drinking water for future case of emergencies. It will also show them the importance of the drinking water for us.

IX. SCOPE AND DELIMINATIONS

This study will be focusing how the salt water was processed to a drinking water and how to prevent the drinking water shortage for future cases. This study will not affect any purified drinking water stations. This study will only be used depending on the person if he/she wants to.

X. EXPECTED OUTPUT

The expected output of this study will determine how the salt water was processed into a drinking water . The desilination process can help people to convert salt water into fresh water .
