1.1. COMPANY PROFILE In 1981, RETAN DEVELOPMENTS NV/SA established as manufacturer of modular panel systems, with headquarter near Kortrijk in BELGIUM. The company has for years been specializing in the construction of cleanroom shells all over the world. In order to enlarge the market possibilities, as well as its representation over the world2003, RETAN DEVELOPMENTS NV/SA merged, in 2003, with ISOCAB NV and became within the new organisation an independent department, Retan Cleanroom Construction, dedicated to carryon its operation and strategy within the cleanroom branch . From the day of its foundation, Retan team has always been committed to bring quality, innovation, reliability of the products and dedicated service to our customers. We have built our success on accurate response to customer manufacturing needs, and we recognise the best way to achieve this is to invest in quality personnel. A lot of our sales and service staff have many years of production and engineering experience in the cleanroom industry. The company has been working over the past years on international markets in most different sectors and handles complete structural cleanroom projects from the design stage to a fully installed system. RETAN Cleanroom Constructions has built more than 1.000.000 m of cleanrooms in all continents of the world.

2. CLEANROOM CEILING SYSTEMS

2.1 GENERAL

The ceiling systems described in these technical specifications can be combined with most of the cleanroom wall systems. They are available as walkable or non-walkable ceiling systems, depending on the type used and are suspended to a secondary structure or form together with the wall system a stand alone construction. In case of a stand alone construction the thickness of the panels is adapted depending on the span to be performed and the requested load on the ceiling.

The systems available are : - ISO8 ceiling system - CRA8 ceiling system - PHARMA LIGHT ceiling system

2.2. ISO 8 CEILING SYSTEM

2.2.1. GENERAL

ISO8 Ceiling panels type are monobloc, sandwich panel with a nominal thickness of 80mm. They are built up from two (2) external shells, made from sheet steel, polyester pre-lacquered and standard supplied with a protecting film. The core of the panels is accomplished by injecting, CFC and HCFC free, PUR foam under high pressure between the two shells ( PIR available as option ). The junction between panels is a tongue and groove system. The thus obtained panel has a smooth surface on both sides. Adjacent panels are assembled and mechanically connected to each other by means of foamed-in eccentric cam-lock systems, which are closed and tightened in order to obtain in combination with the silicone seal a high performing air tightness at the junctions. The ISO8 ceiling has a non-visible suspension element. This invisible stainless steel profile is secured during the installation between the cam-lock junction of two adjacant ceiling panels and fixed, with an interval of maximum 2400 mm, to IPE beams which are placed at minimum 10 cm above the ceiling panels. These IPE profiles are at their turn suspended to the civil construction with a span of maximum 6m. (It may be possible that the civil construction allows a direct suspension to its structure, in that case the secondary profiles become unnecessary.) The IPE beams are always positioned perpendicularly to the length of the panels and also perpendicular to the structure beams. The ceiling is walkable max. admissible mobile load 100 kg for maintenance of light fixtures and other techniques. Access to the ceiling of unauthorised persons and storage of materials on the ceiling are strictly forbidden. Air ducts, piping, cable ducts and all other techniques must be suspended to the existing roof construction.

A separate walking floor must be installed between the I-beams for areas frequently walked-on during and after the installation of the ISO8 ceiling (walking floor is not delivered by ISOCAB NV). However, our system is designed and constructed according to customer's available space. The Retan ceiling ISO 8 is designed to accept all usual clean room fittings, such as light fixtures, filter housing... a.o. It is recommended to use this secondary structure in order to keep the technical void above the ceiling free for the installation of other technical services.

They are built up from two (2) external shells, made from sheet steel, polyester pre-lacquered and standard supplied with a protecting film and fixed on a peripherical aluminium frame. The core of the panels is accomplished by injecting, CFC and HCFC free, PUR foam under high pressure between the two shells or alternatively with glued high density mineral wool . The thus obtained panel has a smooth surface Adjacent panels are assembled and mechanically connected to each other by means of an aluminium clips-in connection profile, which in combination with the silicone seal assures a high performing air tightness at the junctions. The stainless steel suspension profiles are fixed onto a double U profile and fitted length wise in the panel junctions. All panels are consolidated to each other by means of a flat connection plate. 2.4. PHARMA LIGHT CEILING SYSTEM 2.4.1 GENERAL Wall panels type PHARMA LIGHT are self-supporting, monobloc, sandwich panels. They are available in different thicknesses depending on the technical requirements of the project and built up from two external shells made from pre-lacquered steel sheet, bonded by expanded CFC and HCFC free PUR foam ( PIR and mineral wool available in option ) The finished panel has a smooth surface on both sides and are protected with a PE film. The vertical edges of the panels are finished with a tongue and groove profile. Fitted together and in combination with an appropriated sealant, the full panels will form an assembly with a high performing air tightness at all junctions. The panels are suspended at the span ends by means of a aluminium T profile.

NB: When comparing insulation values given by USA and UK manufacturers and these from continental Europe manufacturers, confusion may easily arise as regards the expression K-value. In the USA/UK the continental lambda value is called K-value and based on a panel of 12 sq inches, one inch thick. This figure is then adjusted for the panel thickness and expressed as U-value indicating the amount of heat transmitted through the panel ( thus comparable with the continental K-value). The lower these values, the better is the insulation. Nowadays R-values are widely used in the USA; they indicate the resistance of a panel to heat transmission . Thus higher the R-value , the better is the insulation value. 2.4.2.1.2. DECAROC PANELS PHARMA LIGHT panels with DECAROC core are produced, as ou panels with PUR and PIR core, on a continuously running line . The steel sheets forming the outer shells of the panels are formed from two coils, unrolled simultaneously at a constant velocity. The DECAROC core is glued between both shells. A laminar system keeps the spacing between both shells constant and insures the required pressure during the glue process. The final product is a rigid self supporting panel with very high performances in the field of fire reaction and fire resistance. 2.5. CEILING PANEL CUT-OUT 2.5.1. GENERAL The cut-outs in ceiling panels are made on site. This allows us to maintain the possibility for adaption and flexibility often required by other professions. The cutting edge of the panel is finish on site with high resistant alu tape . This way no particles can come free and dissipate into the zone. All elements installed through the panels must be sealed (silicone, or other means) from the controlled side 2.5.2. TYPICAL AND ALTERNATIVE CUT-OUTS 2.5.2.1. CUT-OUT WITH U-FRAME
