Youth in Action Youth Democracy project

The project A European Young Citizens Initiative is a Youth Democracy project under the Youth in Action program, sub-action 1.3, that involves 252 young people from 14 different organizations from Italy, Cyprus, Portugal, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania. The project encourages a reflection and a practice on the European citizens' initiative. EUs citizens initiative Introduced by the Lisbon treaty, the EUs citizens DOLOR SITinitiative enables likeminded citizens to ask the Commission to propose new laws on specific issues. Initiatives may relate to any policy area for which the Commission has the right to propose legislation, for example the environment, agriculture, transport or public health. For more information: http://ec.europa.eu/citizensinitiative/public/welcome The objectives - To bring young people closer to the European democracy life in order to enable them to play a full part in a more democratic-conscious society and live citizenship to the full. - To foster a lively and cross-border debate about EU policy issues among young people, especially on that ones that affect their life directly. - To reinforce and recognize young people's right to participate in the democratic life of the EU.

Main activities - Local focus groups in each partner country. - International workshop in Caltanissetta, Italy. - International workshop in Limassol, Cyprus. - Final E-book and the EUs citizens initiative. - Dissemination and exploitation of final results and outputs
