SENTENCE CONSTRUCTION
In this section you are requested to write a composition based on a series of pictures. The
pictures can relate an activity, an incident, a place, a plant, an animal, people, etc.

Study the pictures carefully.


Understand the order of events. Pay attention to the words given.
Build up your vocabulary of adjectives and adverbs to enable you to use the
correct and best word.
Be careful about using adjectives and adverbs. An adjective is used to
describe a noun or pronoun, to give more information about the size, shape,
colour or age of a person, place or thing. An adverb is used to describe a verb,
an adjective or another adverb, to give more information about an action or
the state of an action.
Pay attention to your tenses. Some composition require you to use the present
tense, and some to use past tense. The words given will give you an idea
which use tense to use.
Use conjunction to link your sentences which will make your sentences flow
smoothly, e.g: and, then, so, while, etc.
Read your composition after you have completed it. Check for mistakes in
spelling, grammar and punctuation.
You will assessed on your ability to construct sentences and express ideas
using correct sentence structures.
Use a variety of sentence structures and a wide range of vocabulary to express
ideas. Ideas must be clearly expressed, well presented and linked. Accurate
use of spelling and punctuation is essential.
