ORIGAMI INSTRUCTIONS

WHO IS MR. NORIO TORIMOTO?


Mr. Norio Torimoto, born in Japan in 1948, is one of the most well-known representatives of Origami art. Since 1971, his artwork
has been shown in museums and exhibitions, and he has participated in other events where Japanese culture has been the focus.
As one of the first nine people in the world, Mr. Torimoto was appointed an Origami Master in 2000 by the Nippon
Origami Association. He has been invited to or involved in several projects around the world in countries such as China,Germany,
Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Sweden, and the United States. The World Wildlife Foundation commissioned him to create a
Panda in order to improve the quality of recycled paper. As an Origami Master, Mr. Norio Torimoto has socialized with the King
of Sweden, as well as with children in kindergarten. And he was invited to the confabulation during the Emperor and Empress
of Japan’s visit to Sweden.
Extremely interested in mathematics, Mr. Norio Torimoto is a lecturer at The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, and
at several universities in Denmark, Japan, and the United Kingdom. His lectures include “Origami – Geometric solutions through
visual and tactile perception.” Mr. Norio Torimoto also spends his days teaching advanced mathematics to both teachers and
youngsters by using the fun art of Origami.
