To read a text for details 2. To fill in a table 3. To interact in groups and pairs and perform the communicative task 4. To use the new vocabulary in context 5. To describe a sequence of events Materials: textbook, handouts, CDs, video projector, computer, PowerPoint Presentation Class management: Ss work: in pairs, in groups, as individuals Anticipated problems: 1. Ss might have problems with understanding the text Solution: pre-teach vocabulary 2. Personality clash Solution: T rearranges the groups 3. Some Ss might not be interested in the topic Solution: T uses jokes, funny stories 4. Some Ss might have problems with commands Solution: explanations given in L1 Dealing with mistakes: Accuracy: 1. Ss correction self-correction 2. If 1 doesnt work peer correction 3. If 1 & 2 dont work T provides the correct answer and will probably revise the teaching problems

Fluency: T doesnt intervene in the activity to correct the mistakes not to break Ss communication. She can put down notes and deal with them next time. Time: If time does not allow, activity 6 will be assigned as homework. Activity 1- lead in -7 Aim(s): to prepare students for the topic to make them feel comfortable and relaxed Procedure: Ss are asked to watch a video called Mr. Bean at a wedding and then asked to name the people/things they have seen : bride, groom, bridesmaid, cake, cash, ceremony, church, priest, etc. ( vocabulary box on page 6) Activity 2- reading for specific information/ to get the general idea 3 Aim(s): to encourage Ss to make predictions to read for specific information Procedure: Ss are asked to read the passage and find out why it is named All dressed in red Activity 3- reading for specific information in order to fill a chart 3 Aim(s): to read for specific information to complete a chart with information related to weddings Procedure: Ss are given handouts where they need to complete task 1 Activity 4- Describing a sequence of events 10 Aim(s): to select information for the speaking and writing tasks to use notes in order to describe a sequence of events Procedure: Ss are shown a PowerPoint presentation on ways to describe sequence of events. Then they are asked to join pairs of sentences using before / after. (Task 2- handout1) Activity 5- Sharing information activity 10 Aim(s): to select information for the speaking and writing tasks to develop Ss ability to interact in pairs and groups Procedure: Ss are going to work in pairs. Student A will read a passage about an Arab wedding while Student B will read about a Chinese wedding. In order to prevent the students from forgetting the details they will be given handout 2 to write them down. After finishing reading, they will exchange information. Ss are going to work in groups of three/ four in order to describe a wedding in their own country. Homework: You have attended a Hindu/ Arab/ Chinese wedding and you have decided to write an email to a friend describing it to him/ her.
