Schism
Schism does not mean decline but development. Developing of another sub-system that was not present before originally in that system is called schism. Usually it fulfills the changing needs of the components. Our actions change day by day and so our problems. One is just finished other is being in process of coming up. In 6 th century BC Buddhism started with the encounter of Prince Sidhartha with the basic problem of life i.e. sickness, old age and death. The way Buddha found was the eight-fold-path which leads to salvation. Buddhism has gone in various changes according to time and space with need of localization. This automatically created a schism in the system. Though after some time some vital reforms also took place in the religious system of Buddhism to make it more suitable for its followers.

Buddhist Ideas for World Peace

Buddhism teaches that whether we have global peace or global war is up to us at every moment. Peace or war is our decision. Wars begin because of people of one country or at least their rulers, have unfulfilled desires. They are greedy for benefits or wealth or power. When their desires are not fulfilled they tend to become angry and hateful. These basic emotional conditions cover the luminous depth of our mind and cut us off from our own intuitive wisdom and compassion and cannot make a fare decision. The doctrine of Karma teaches that force and violence never it generates an

unending cycle of fear and anger. A good deed leads to good result, bad deeds to bad. If you plant bean seeds, you get beans. If you plant the seeds of war, you get war.

Socially Engaged Buddhism

Suffering is common to all social causes whether it to be environment degradation womens issues, social injustice, poverty etc. How can we relieve suffering without causing additional harm to ourselves and others in this process? Socially engaged Buddhism presents a possible practice in response to that question. Socially engaged Buddhism combines social activism with the skilful practices of Buddhism. Untouchables take refuge in Buddhism as a tradition of equality and libration that could guide their struggle against the Hindu caste system.
