Combisafe Prevention
Within the collective Fall Prevention range, systems include the Steel Mesh Barrier S-System that can integrate with the traditional timber solutions, and its partner the Steel Mesh Barrier C-System for integration with scaffolding. Both are fully compliant within the relevant performance classes within the European Standard (EN 13374). Completing this group is the Net Barrier System, designed to satisfy the edge protection needs of steep roofs or large span structures, and meeting the performance requirements of both Class C within EN 13374, and System U within EN 1263.
Combisafe Protection
The Fall Protection range includes the Safety Net Fan, with specifications for both material and man catching. This system not only protects the site workers from falls and falling materials, but as it absorbs the fall energy and contains the falling materials, it also protects passers-by. The man catching specification meets the performance requirements of System T within EN 1263. Within this group is Alsipercha, the flexible sky hook for concrete frame construction, the truck or trailer Loading System, and a full range of Miller Personal Fall Protective Equipment from Sperian.

Facts:
Project: One New Change, London, United Kingdom Client: Land Securities Main Contractor: Bovis Lend Lease Architect: Jean Nouvel Products: Steel Mesh Barrier C-System, Safety Net Fan, Combisafe Loading System, Steel Mesh Barrier Beam Overview: One New Change is taking shape as a world-class contemporary building designed to complement its historical neighbour, St Pauls Cathedral. Located on Cheapside, this mixeduse development offers 31,587m of prestigious office space and 20,438m of shops, cafs and restaurants transforming the area into a seven-day shopping and leisure experience. One New Change is due to be completed in 2010.
Comment:
During this project a proprietary edge protection system was required, that was equally at home on concrete and steel. We also needed the facility to work through the edge protection when installing the cladding panels. Combisafe were able to meet all these criteria with their Steel Mesh Barrier System and also provide us with solutions to safely off-load vehicles, and the Safety Net Fan system to protect site workers and the public from the risk of falling debris. With the tight deadline, another key factor in our decision was the off-the-shelf availability of attachments, capable of fixing to steel beams with very large overhangs.

Facts:
Project: Ferrari World, Abu Dhabi Client: Aldar Properties PJSC and Besix Main Contractor: SixConstruct Architect: Benoy Architects Products: Steel Mesh Barrier C-System, Flexi Attachment and Safety Posts Overview: Opening in 2010, Ferrari World is the first theme park to be designed around the Ferrari brand, and will feature a racetrack, theatre complex, various driving experiences and numerous rides, including the worlds fastest rollercoaster. This indoor theme park will be housed under a roof shaped in the style of a classic double-curve body shell of a Ferrari GT car. The roof covers an area of 200,000m. The main level within the theme park is 9m above the surrounding ground level, and over 35,000t of steel have been used to reinforce the structure.
Comment:
Combisafe was involved in this project from the very start. The complexity of the roof structure combined with a very quick installation process called for a bespoke attachment solution. Design, engineering and manufacturing locally realised our highly set expectations of safety and performance.

Facts:
Project: TownTown, Vienna, Austria Client: Immobiliendevelopment Wiener Stadtwerke BMG, STC Swiss Town Consult AG and Donau-Finanz Main contractor: STRABAG AG Products: Combisafe Safety Net Fans Overview: TownTown is one of the largest construction projects in Austria including 21 office buildings, one underground station, an underground car park with approx. 650 parking spaces, as well as a plaza with various shops and restaurants. Close to Vienna International Airport, TownTown presents not only a new district but a modern and outstanding business park. With 22 floors and a unique acute-angled faade, the new Company Building 03, The Tower, will claim a landmark position on the skyline of Vienna. The Combisafe Safety Net Fans were used for the edge protection of the office tower, covering 36,000m. This 280 Million project will be completed in the end of 2012.
Comment:
This project was very challenging for us. While working on the concrete frame in the upper floors of the building, works on the actual faade were also being carried out on the lower floors. Therefore, we needed an edge protection system, which provided a fall-arrest system for our workforce as well as protection against falling debris. The Combisafe Safety Net Fans proved to be the best solution. Easily assembled at ground level, we were able to lift them into position by crane and fix them along the edge of the 13th floor.

Project: Pont de la Caille, AllonzierLa-Caille, France Client: Le conseil Gnral de Haute Savoie Contractor: DV Construction and VSL Bouygues Construction France Products: Steel Mesh Barrier S-System, Steel Mesh Barrier Make-up, Safety Posts and Site Stairways Overview: A 6 Million renovation project is currently being carried out on the 150m high bridge Pont de la Caille that joins Cruseilles to Allonzier-La-Caille. The renovation work on the listed historical monument will be completed in two phases; phase 1 on the deck, and phase 2 on the structure of the bridge. During renovation, a collective fall prevention system was required which was quick and easy to erect and could withstand high wind loads, and contain debris. The contractors DV Construction and VSL used over 200 Steel Mesh Barriers, Steel Mesh Barrier Make-up, Safety Posts and Site Stairways for the edge protection of this project. The bridge will be completed at the end of August 2010.
Comment:
With a total height of 150m, a special edge protection was needed for this project. The modular system from Combisafe proved to be the best solution. By using the Steel Mesh Barriers we were able to protect our workers along the edge of the bridge as well as block the visibility of the deep valley underneath, which made them feel much safer, especially in phase 1 whilst working on the decking of the bridge.

Facts:
Project: Maastoren, Rotterdam, Netherlands Client: OVG Projectontwikkeling bv Main Contractor: BESIX nv Architect: Dam & Partners Architecten Products: Steel Mesh Barrier S-System, Posts, Flexi Attachment, Safety Net Fans and Multi Box Overview: With 44 floors and a total height of 165m, Maastoren is the tallest building in the Netherlands, and will definitely be a new landmark in the skyline of Rotterdam once finished in the beginning of 2010. The new skyscraper covers a total area of 69,000m, including 44,000m of office space and 13 parking floors with around 600 parking spaces. A special feature is the 7m high glass boardroom, situated on the 44th floor of the building, which offers a panoramic view of Rotterdam and the river Maas. During this project, the Combisafe Safety Net Fan and Steel Mesh Barrier System were used to protect the workers along the edge of the building.
Comment:
The Safety Net Fans proved to be the best solution for this project as they allowed us to protect our workers on site and pedestrians from falling objects, which is a very big problem for any high rise construction. Both the Steel Mesh Barriers and the Safety Net Fans were installed on the ground and then lifted into position by crane. Thus, no work at height to install the edge protection was necessary.

Project: adidas LACES, Herzogenaurach, Germany Client: adidas AG Contractor (Steel structure): Prebeck GmbH Products: Steel Mesh Barrier S-System, Posts and Steel Jaw Clamps Overview: The new adidas headquarters for Global Marketing and Global Operations, adidas LACES, is currently being built in Herzogenaurach, Germany. The technical highlights of the 60,000m building are a central atrium together with free hanging bridges, which connect the single floors of the building. Like laces, these steel bridges tie up the 7-storey construction to a unique office building, and will allow a high level of interaction and communication between the different departments once finished at the end of 2011.
Comment:
The edge protection system was completed on site at ground level, and lifted into position by crane. Thus, we were not only able to increase the safety for our workers on site, but also to reduce the risk of accidents enormously. No additional personal protective equipment, which is very expensive and has been used in the past to install the edge protection, was necessary, which saved us both time and costs.

Falu Tingsrtt
Facts:
Project: Falu Tingsrtt, Falun, Sweden Client: Domstolsverket Main Contractor: Byggpartner AB Scaffolding contractor: JUF Byggnadsstllningar AB Products: UBIX Temporary Roof with Tension Bar System Overview: The court house in Falun, Sweden, is to be renovated adding an extra storey, and a temporary roof is required to protect the existing premises while work continues throughout the winter. Scaffolding contractor JUF Byggnadsstllningar AB selected a UBIX Temporary Roof for this project. UBIX is remarkably light, around 8kg/m, which is of great benefit when erecting by crane. The fully-braced roof bays are very rigid and prove very simple to rig and manoeuvre into place on the scaffold support. The roof is calculated for a basic wind speed of 25m/s and a snow load of 70kg/m. Mounted on a standard freestanding scaffold structure several metres above the existing building, potential heavy snow loads could cause high transverse forces. To counteract these forces, the UBIX Tension Bar System has been specified. The Tension Bars link each side of the roof with prefabricated, high-tensile tubes. The whole system proved extremely easy to assemble on the ground prior to lifting the roof bays.
Comment:
I have had great results with UBIX since investing in the system last year, and the service from Combisafe has been excellent. They have helped me with design and erection advice, so that the jobs have gone really smoothly. We will certainly be looking to use UBIX in future whenever we need reliable weather protection.

Arts Tower
Facts:
Project: Arts Tower, Sheffield, United Kingdom Client: Department of Estates, University of Sheffield Main Contractor: BAM Construction UK Subcontractor: HT Scaffolding Systems Ltd Products: PREGUARD Overview: The Arts Tower was designed during a competition in 1959, and opened in June 1966 by the Queen Mother. It was originally built to accommodate 160 staff and 1,000 students, but, in recent years, has become overcrowded. As part of a major refurbishment package, the landmark Grade II listed building is about to embark on a renovation programme to improve flow of movement and amenities for all users.
Comment:
The access scaffold for the Arts Tower was a major project for HT Scaffolding Systems Ltd, involving complex engineered foundations for the structure that will be 39 lifts in total standing a massive 80 metres high on completion. Having been one of the first scaffolding contractors to invest in the PREGUARD advance guardrail system, we are convinced that it offers the best fall protection for our scaffolders. BAM Construction was keen to see advance guardrails used on the project and we decided to purchase a complete ring of PREGUARD around the whole perimeter, totalling 118m. Weve been impressed by the speed with which a complete ring can be raised, in fact it takes less than a minute per bay and doesnt slow down the erection work at all. Based on our experience on this site, we have decided to roll out PREGUARD on all our contracts. This will give us a great advantage when tendering for new work with all blue-chip clients.

This project is a pilot project for DUMEZ Ile-de-France SAS to test the products from Combisafe as well as the cooperation between both companies. The steel frame structure of the building required a special edge protection system, which is very flexible and can be adapted to different situations.
Comment:
The Combisafe products allowed us to install the edge protection system at ground level using the Steel Jaw Clamps, and lift the steel beams into position with the edge protection in place. Thus, we were able to save both time and costs. I am confident to integrate the solution into our protection range of products.

Project: Heron Tower, London, United Kingdom Client: Heron International Main Contractor: Skanska Products: Safety Net Fan Maxi and Safety Net Fans Overview: Due to be completed in 2010, Heron Tower will be the tallest building in London. Designed by acclaimed architects, Kohn Pederson Fox, the new addition to the London skyline at 110 Bishopsgate will comprise a new multi purpose building providing world class office space. The slender glass and stainless steel structure of 46 storeys will provide 40,836m of office space, divided across 36 floors with a public restaurant and bar on the top three levels.
Comment:
Due to the large steel beams on this project, Combisafes standard attachments were not suitable, but they were able to adapt the connection details of the Safety Net Fan to suit the size of the steel. A public footpath and local businesses needed to stay open while construction was in progress, and Combisafe was able to adapt the standard Safety Net Fans to be erected to the hoardings. The Safety Net Fans provided protection for passersby from debris whilst letting in natural light to the footpath. This enabled access for the public to remain open and local businesses to carry on trading.

The complex will include seven towers adjacent to the Holy Mosque, the holiest site in Islam.
Comment:
We required an edge protection system that would enable site personnel to work safely without any constraints on site, and would also be simple to erect and dismantle. We found the Combisafe Steel Mesh Barrier System and Safety Net Fans really practical to use whilst instilling a sense of safety in our workers.

With a total height of 122m, the Carlton Tower is the tallest building of the business complex featuring a futuristic glass exterior, office units and a car park with 900 parking spaces. The main contractor VolkerWessels used a total of 2,000 Steel Mesh Barriers and 42 Safety Net Fans for the edge protection of this 40,000m project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2010.
Comment:
Thanks to very good experiences with Combisafe in the past, we decided to use their products in this project. The Steel Mesh Barrier is a very good and easy to-install solution, especially for highrise buildings, as the mesh also catches windblown debris that would normally leave the building. By using the Safety Net Fans, we were not only able to protect our workers from falls and people on the ground from falling objects, but also protect the faade of the building from falling wet concrete.

The new Combisafe Multi Mesh Barrier (MMB) combines a Post and Barrier in a single component, for simplicity, ease, and speed of installation. It has been designed to cost-effectively satisfy the performance and containment requirements of EN 13374 Class A alone. The installation uses a single fixing and overlap, and is therefore not sensitive to accurate attachment spacing. The overlap is secured using a Combistrap. This permits a wide range of varied applications including curves and corners. The system can use pre-cast sockets, clamps, or drilled fixings as attachments. Once the fixing is made, the MMB can be safely installed without having to access the edge, improving speed and safety. Individual barriers can be opened, like gates by simply removing the Combistrap, to permit access to the edge or for loading through. They are then safely shut from behind the protection of the Barrier. The large mesh size provides the required level of containment, whilst also allowing operatives to reach through and work without removing the Barrier.
32
www.combisafe.com
Safe Installation
Step 1: Hold barrier with post at far end, one barrier length from the edge. Lever the post up using the foot against the near end and place the post in the fixing. Step 2: Swing the barrier away from you, towards the edge of the building to join the run of barriers.
Combistrap
n Large mesh allows work through and reduces wind load. Containment can be increased by adding small mesh overlays. n Can be joined vertically to increase height of the protection. n Tight curves accommodated by reducing the overlap. n Can be opened individually to permit access to the edge, or loading.

Temporarily protecting the edges of stairways during construction has previously been complicated and expensive. The varied nature of the stairs, landings, and returns, often required many cut tubes, sharp ends, and much purpose built protection. The new Steel Mesh Barrier Stair (SMB Stair) has be designed to solve these problems, offering a systemised solution that can stand alone or integrate with either SMB system. The SMB Stair provides continuous edge protection along staircases, and at returns the Gap Closer ensures continuity and protects any sharp edges. The landings are protected using the SMB system, linking seamlessly to the SMB Stair. The SMB Stair is supported on the adjustable posts, and can be fitted to any angle of permanent or temporary stairway. It can also be raised to allow access to work on the outside edge of the stair unit. The SMB Stair is a single component, and can be fitted to either side of the staircase.

Containment Solutions
New solutions, and developments of existing systems, to increase the edge protection and level of containment.
New ct u prod
As building height grows and construction programmes shorten, the risk of equipment, people, and materials falling or being blown out of a partially complete building increases. This has led to a rising demand for floor to soffit containment as part of the edge protection solution. There is no European Standard or other consistent point of reference to define what is an acceptable level of containment or what should be contained. Full Height Containment is often referred to, implying floor to soffit, but not clarifying the containment level or mesh size. Combisafe have, therefore, begun our Containment offering by developing a new Combisafe Standard, to define what is meant by Containment, and to clarify the conflicting demands and variables included within our Containment Solutions.

The Solutions |
Patent Pending
The SMB Containment solution uses existing SMB components to cover the containment area. Post extensions, adapters, and specially sized SMB Holders are combined with existing products to provide a certain containment density. Solutions are bespoke, and include technical justification, wind loads, and installation instructions. The MMB Containment solution uses the new Multi Mesh Barrier System components to cover the containment area. Additional spigots and screw jacks may be required, and the containment area is covered in vertical units of 1150mm. In view of the large mesh size of the MMB, the solution starts at the 250mm containment density. If applications require an increased density, over lay materials can be used. The Safety Net solution uses a safety net with a chosen mesh size to provide the required containment density. This is normally fitted to the soffit by remote attachment, and either joins with the existing edge protection solution, or extends to the working surface. Combined solutions are also available, mixing the features and benefits from other solutions to satisfy particular needs or applications.

The SCAFFSTEP is clipped onto the working level top guardrail at any position, and its adjustable feet bear on the boards. The integral ladder provides access to the platform, and the retractable lanyard provides protection whilst accessing it. Once standing on the top platform, the Scaffolder is protected from falling out of the scaffold by the ledger of the lift above, now acting as his single guardrail. He can then reach up in perfect safety and either attach, or release the guardrails to that lift, which are now within reach. The SCAFFSTEP can be used with traditional tube and fitting scaffolding, and also with all types of system scaffold. The adjustable feet accommodate the various guardrail heights and keep the platform level.
40
www.combisafe.com
The SCAFFSTEP can be used at any position along the run of scaffold as it does not rely on a standard for support. This means that it can be used at stop ends, returns, mid bay, and at changes in direction. SCAFFSTEP is frequently used in pairs allowing fast, easy, and safe installation of guardrails to the next level.

New FiligreeAttachment
Patent Pending | Art. Nos. 1233/4233
Designed for use with pre-cast concrete slabs, the new Filigree Attachment allows the Steel Mesh Barriers or guardrails to be preinstalled at ground level and lifted in to position with the pre-cast unit. Thus avoiding the need to work at height. This innovative attachment is easily positioned during the casting process, being placed independently, rotated into position on its three feet, and readily secured to the rebar to prevent movement during the pour. It will accept loading in any direction and does, therefore, not require careful orientation. The pre-cast units are transported with the pre-cut plastic sleeves removed, simplifying stacking on the lorry, and reducing the stored height. Once on site, the units are off-loaded and the sleeves, which have been cut to suit the finished slab thickness, are inserted. The SMB Posts and Barriers are quickly fitted at ground level in total safety, and the slab is then lifted into position. Once placed, the lifting chains can be simply removed as the edges are already protected and the area is secure.

Combisafe Protection
The Fall Protection range includes the Safety Net Fan, with specifications for both material and man catching. This system not only protects site workers from falls and falling materials but, as it absorbs the fall energy and contains the falling materials, it also protects passers-by. The man catching specification meets the performance requirements of System T within EN 1263. Also within this group are Alsipercha the flexible sky hook for concrete frame construction, CLS the truck or trailer Loading System, and a full range of Miller Personal Fall Protective Equipment from Sperian.

Declaration of Conformity
The SAFETY NET FAN TYPE HD has been tested and approved according to Type T in EN 1263-1 Safety Nets - Part 1: Safety requirements, testing methods Edition 1. It is essential that Combisafe Safety Net Fans are only used with the correct applicable parts, and that rigging is carried out in accordance with the mounting instructions stipulated in the user manual. To ensure a high level of safety in the use of all Combisafe products, training courses are available at Combisafe Safety Centres. One of the tests carried out by the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute involved dropping a test mass weighing 100kg from a height of 7m into the net.
Annual Testing
It is recommended that all Safety Net Fans should be inspected at least once a year. One of the test cords from the fan should be sent either to Combisafe or to a recognised material testing institute for testing.

Fall-arrest Fan:
Art. No. 3106 - 4m Art. No. 3116 - 6m
The Safety Net Fan consists of two steel brackets which allow a projection range of 3 metres from the building. It can be used in a number of constructional applications, see Page 99-100 for further information. Its unique design enables the fan to be folded in towards the buildings faade allowing easy access for cranes, loading etc. In the case of a fall, the impact will be cushioned partly by the elasticity of the net and partly by a slight deformation of the frame itself. This will ensure maximum energy absorption, and will considerably reduce the risk of injury on impact. The mesh density of the fall-arrest net is 60 x 60mm. The mesh density of the protection net is 100 x 100mm. As standard, the fan is delivered with an extra fine-meshed debris net (20 x 20mm) laced together with the safety net, enabling the net to catch considerably smaller particles of debris. In certain cases, the net can be com bined with scaffolding sheet providing an even denser fan.

Positioning limits
The positioning limits stated in EN 1263-2 only apply to fall-arrest fans. According to EN1263-2 Safety Nets (Part 2), the safety requirements on positioning limits for Safety Net Fans are as follows: For surfaces sloping less than 20, the fall height is max. 6 metres. For surfaces sloping more than 20, the fall height is max. 3 metres. The free distance (f) below the Safety Net Fan should be at least equal to the height of the fan. Ensure that no objects obstruct this area.
Although the max. fall height to the Safety Net Fan is 6 metres, Combisafe always recommends that the fan is positioned as close to the working area as possible. A fall of any kind is never risk-free, and the lower the fall, the less chance of sustaining injury.

Lifting
The SNF can be lifted into position in different ways, but probably the most popular solution is to lift the SNF using the outer tube at the double coupler. Check that all couplers are securely tightened before lifting. Attach the two point lifting device to prevent the SNF from sliding. Always check wind loads before lifting the SNF, as the fan is susceptible to strong winds.

Overlap
Design
The Safety Net Fan is assembled on the ground and lifted into place by crane. The installation is done using different accessories to suit the building application. When the Safety Net Fans are lifted intoOverlap place, theyfor are debris joined Safety together either by lacing or by overlap. The overlap method is by far the most popular as it allows the fans to be folded up > 0.75m individually, giving access for craneage etc.
Overlap for fall-arrest Safety Net Fans
The length of the overlap differs between fall-arrest nets and protection nets.
5m
5m
The overlap on protection nets only has to be large enough to prevent debris and other objects from falling between the Safety Net Fans. The fall-arrest nets must overlap by at least 0.75m at the narrowest point. To ensure that this requirement is met, Combisafe recommends an overlap of Traditional overlap 1m. The effective length of the Safety Net Fan will depend on the size of the Sequence overlap overlap. For a 6m fan with overlap of 0.75m, the effective length will be 5m. For a 4m fan with overlap of 0.75m, the effective length will be 3m.

Rigging Applications
Due to the various methods of anchorage, the Safety Net Fan can be used on most building applications. Here are just some of the more common attachments that can be used to secure the Safety Net Fan.
Slab Attachment
Slab Attachment
Together with the Safety Net Fan, the Slab Attachment is the most versatile of the Combisafe Attachments, and can be used for most building applications.
SNF mounted with Slab Attachment and Extension
Its most common use is for mounting on the edge of concrete slabs. Here, it is used together with the Kneebrace Support (Art. No. 10051) around the open edge of a slab, or with the Extension (Art. No. 10435) when used against the faade of a building. Other building applications include formwork, concrete beams, and over the top of walls.

Situated on the River Schelde, right in the city centre of Antwerp, the London Tower will feature 3,000m of office space, more than 119 luxurious apartments and an underground car park with approx. 376 parking spaces. The 76.6m high London Tower will be one of the tallest buildings in Belgium and will be completed in 2010. With a total height of 22 floors, the London Tower project was very challenging for us. To eliminate the danger of falling objects and debris, and to protect workers on lower levels of the building, the Combisafe Safety Net Fans were used. Additionally, the Combisafe Steel Mesh Barrier System protected workers along the edge of the balconies. By using the Combisafe Systems we were able to plan safety on site. The anchors for all attachments were positioned and casted during the production of the pre-fabricated concrete elements, which allowed a quick and safe installation of the edge protection on site.

Training
Within all product areas, Combisafe offers safety training linked to our range of products. For the main part, our courses are held at our Safety Centres, and are divided into basic safety training, rigging, safety inspections, and, in certain cases, refurbishment. All training is carried out in accordance with national legislation and current standards. Courses will result in the authorisation of the trainee within his chosen area, which is a requirement on many construction sites today. A Training ID card will be issued detailing courses undertaken by the trainee. The Safety Net Fan course is divided into theoretical and practical sessions, and will go through the following points step by step: Presentation Preparation Handling Rigging Inspection Use Dismantling During the course, information will be given on appropriate complementary PFPE. We strongly recommend that representatives of companies using the Safety Net Fan for the first time take part in our full-day rigging course. It not only provides practical training in safe and correct methods of rigging, it also greatly impro ves efficiency and the general level of safety of the company in other words, greater cost-effectiveness with fewer accidents.

The Meld- en Cordinatie Centrum in Maastricht, a new report and coordination centre for emergency services, is a pilot project for BAM Utiliteitsbouw to test the products from Combisafe as well as the cooperation between both companies. During this project the Combisafe Steel Mesh Barrier, Steel Mesh Barrier Stair, Posts, Shaft Gate, Alsipercha and the Combisafe Loading System (CLS) have been used. Combisafe was involved in this project from the very beginning. By using the Combisafe systems we were able to plan safety on site. The holes for the attachments were drilled during the production of the pre-fabricated ceilings and no extra drilling was necessary on site, which saved us a lot of time. The Combisafe systems were easy to use, quick to install and ensured our workforce was working in a safe environment. We are looking forward to the next project with Combisafe.

Flexible Solution
The Combisafe Hanging Platform system is often used in places where a floor mounted scaffold would restrict other activities, or would be too expensive. As it is installed at high level it limits unauthorised access, and, therefore, offers improved building security. The system has great flexibility to fit many building shapes. The overlapping Boardwalk allows easy adjustment of the support centres with no step or trip at the joint. There are corners, and even self-closing gates to control the point of access. The Boardwalk has an integral toeboard, and there is a screw-in stop-end to complete the protection. The maximum load permissable on the walkway is 200kg/m2, and the maximum span between consoles is 2.4m. There is a Cantilever Platform Clamp system for direct attachment to slab edges. This is used to provide local passage around wall forms etc.

Rigging Applications
A through-bolted clamp is used to suspend the console from the rafter oversail at the eaves. A Telescope Arm is then used to strut the console horizontally off the faade. Alternatively, the console can be suspended from a suitable fixing installed in the faade itself. In this application, a shorter strut is used. There is even a cantilever beam in the system for fixing to a slab, roof, or other flat surface, to suspend the Hanging Platform outside the building line. Other struts and braces can be used to increase the offset or to lower the platform level relative to the fixing point. This modular system is easy to transport in a small van as it is light, and the largest single component is the Steel Mesh Barrier.

UBIX Roofing
The UBIX Roofing System provides flexible, temporary weather protection that can be erected quickly, safely and ergonomically. Available in a range of spans and bay sizes, the modular system is suitable for any project, and can be supported on any type of scaffold, maximising on-site flexibility. UBIX aluminium beams are universal in application, dramatically improving stock utilisation and UBIX can also be built using your existing beams, reducing capital investment.
OKTOLOK
The OKTOLOK system scaffold is an innovative modular scaffolding system, combining the speed of system scaffolding with a safe erection method and the supreme versatility of traditional scaffold boards. OKTOLOK returns much more scaffold area for the capital employed compared to system deck-based alternatives, and utilises existing stocks of scaffold boards. OKTOLOKs unique nodal spacing ensures compliant guardrail heights and additional headroom in the working platform which is free of ledger bracing. With the optional addition of XTENDA intermediate transoms, installation of inside boards is rendered flexible and fast.

XTENDA Transoms
XTENDA Transoms offer a unique, patented and well-proven solution to the creation of boarded platforms within traditional tube and fitting scaffolds. XTENDA combines 3 loose components into 1 fast-fix item. XTENDA has a telescopic inside cantilever extension reducing from 3 boards down to 0 inside boards simply by sliding back the telescopic insert.
UNIVERSAL STAIR
UNIVERSAL STAIR is a complete solution for temporary access between levels in scaffolds or construction sites and for building stair towers in both traditional and system scaffolding. The staircase units fold for transport, are easily assembled and automatically adjust to a wide range of lift heights.
PREGUARD
PREGUARD is an advanced guard rail system, enabling scaffolders to install collective edge protection on the lift above prior to commencement of work at that level. Using telescopic guardrails attached to an innovative vertical post, PREGUARD removes the need to work at height without protection.

Training
Combisafe training courses combine theory and practical exercises, to provide in-depth knowledge on the requirements, current directives and to demonstrate common fall-risk situations on construction sites. The practical training is carried out at Combisafe Safety Centres. The Safety Centres comprise of a unique training frame with integral safety cables for leading edge work, presenting examples of both steel and concrete frame construction. This permits extensive, hands-on, practical exposure to all manner of construction solutions in a controlled environment, protected from the weather.
Rigging
Many of our customers are now realising that poor rigging of fall prevention and protection systems can actually constitute an increased risk, rather than reducing it. All Combisafe products should only be installed by competent personnel, and increasingly Combisafe is being asked to provide this service. Combisafe have responded to this requirement in developing a network of companies with all the relevant skills, many offering complementary services of either scaffolding or safety netting. Using a trusted partner of Combisafe, customers can be assured that they have the competence demanded within the industry.
