HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 31-33; 1 Thessalonians 5 Monday, October 7 2 Sam 2:26 knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? Heavenly Father: I see so many today who only profess to be Christians, but are not possessors of Christ. What will their latter end be if you do not let me break through to them with the gospel soon? Some of them respectfully attend a church, but they go because others go, not because their heart is right with you. That is their beginning. For many years they have been spared to go on as they do right now, professing religion through an outward attendance, but not really having their heart in it. In the latter end they will have no hope. They will fear to stand before your face. Lord I offer this prayer with sincere emotion. Help me even this week layout the gospel to a soul in distresswhether they recognize that distress or not. Help them grab the rope before they sink. Let them not close their eyes in death, only to lift them up in punishment (Luke 16:23). Take away the blindness so they can lift up their eyes to you before then. Do not let them sleep under my preaching at them, and do not let my sleep-away the opportunity to preach! Lord help them really believe, and not merely accept a set of doctrines. Let me be clear with them that to believe is to trust, to depend, to rely on, and to rest in you. Let them cast the whole weight and stress of their souls salvation on Jesus Christ and his cross, alone. If faith is absent then sacraments, prayers, church membership and attendance will not work, because the essential thing is lacking. Their believing or not settles the matter of salvation. Lord let them look away from self to Jesus for righteousness, because if they do, they are saved. And let me not be shy to use the word grace in giving the gospel. I ask it to Jesus glory, for I know he did not die in vain. Amen. A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 40-42; 2 Thessalonians 3 Thursday, October 10 Song of Solomon 1:4 Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS MIRACLES Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 34-36; 2 Thessalonians 1 Tuesday, October 8 Mark 5:28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. Heal us, O Emmanuel! Here I am, needing your healing. Good Physician, this is work only you can docome and manifest your power. I look unto Jesus and am lightened, but I do confess that even my faith was a gift from you. I would never have looked on the cross with my bleary eyes unless your heavenly light had first shone, as the finger of your Spirit took all the blindness away. I trace my faith to you O God, and ask now that others I know may also have it. Maintain the faith you created within me. Strengthen it, and at the same time let it be more childlike and simple. Deliver me from any kind of reliance on myself, whatever shape that confidence might take, and let my faith grow every day I live, because there is yet room for the greatest faith to be exercised in our ministries and our opportunities as a church. Give me a great confidence in you. Give me full faith in the Holy Spirits presence and power. Work it in me now, while at the same time I confess I am ashamed I do not have it. I make no excuse for my unbelief, but detest I ever doubted the truth of the mighty and faithful God whose I am. Yet Lord, I will fall into the same sin of distrust and faithlessness again, unless the grace that makes me recognize it as sin also helps me avoid it! I bring my heart to youfull of love for what you have done, full of gratitude, full of faith, full of hope, and full of joy. Make me glad in the Lord when I am sad in everything else. I do confess, if there is anything acceptable in what I do it is only because you worked it in me. I want to lay at your feet the fruits that grow in the garden you own in my life. Help me be a blessing to you today, for I ask it in Jesus blessed name. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 43-45; 1 Timothy 1 Friday, October 11 John 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. How We Praise You Lord Jesus! Our fellowship with you is an unstoppable force and source of joy. Cause us to ponder Christs life and sufferings more often, until it works in us an intense passion for thanksgiving and praise. Make us take adventurous flights into the atmosphere of heaven by faith. Help us see our lowest and most common duties as the porch to the mansion of a glorious eternity. Let us see even the dullest moments of our day as the doorstep to celestial glory! We praise you our Father, that even our most fervent prayers only move your mighty arm because Christ, as our mediator, stepped forward to remove the sin and ineptitude of our supplication. And we thank you Lord Jesus, that your dying blood is now marvelously matched by your living, pleading, intercessory work for us. Enable us todayas your churchto clearly recall and quote your precious promises when we are attacked by the enemy of our souls. Help us take our highest manhood or womanhood and saturate it with your word, so we can then overflow it with your love. Holy Spirit, adorable Comforter, work in our midst! We need to burn in our heart of hearts, so we can flame before the eyes of the lost. Make our love to Jesus so blazing and all-consuming it is visible in our ordinary actions today, audible in our ordinary conversations today, and seen in our eyes even in ordinary glances. Cause our minds to believingly ponder your attributes long and often, and thereby increase our faith. Grant us the holy reasoning of love that feels the strong compulsion of praise leading it to holiness. These things we ask expectantly for the sake of fulfilling your call. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 19-21; 2 Thessalonians 2 Wednesday, October 9 2 Cor. 6:7 By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, Lord of Revival: Help me do as Christ would do! Help me think as Christ would think! Help me feel as Christ would feel, or else not be swayed by my feelings. Make Christ all in all to me, so I can be armored by him and made impervious to the arrows of the enemy. Amidst the darts of temptation keep me balanced and unharmed. Psa. 89:18 For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king. Your word teaches me to meet with a mix of conflict, service, and suffering as long as I live. Help me put on the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 13:14) and I will be ready for anything, in all conditions, and able to meet all requirements. Rom. 14:8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lords. My sanctification is a long and winding roadthat is why I need revival now! You left me here on the battlefield so I can stand, and by standing win more souls for you. Help me live unto the Lord so I can bring others to know his love. Make me a sower of good seed as part of revival. Help me break-up fallow ground in my own heart and others. Make me a worthy ambassador and herald of the gospel. Help me make sure my life answers to your true purpose! Aid me by your Spirit to live with energy, usefulness, joyousness, and holiness, as workers together with him (2 Cor. 6:1). Make me a blessing today. Col. 3:2-4 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. So I set Jesus on the throne of my heart today by faith. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 46-48; 1 Timothy 2 Saturday, October 12 Psa. 71:15 My mouth shall show forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. Gracious God: My righteousness is not worth mentioning. Filthy rags are best hidden from view! But your righteousness in Christ Jesus is able to fill my soul completely. Phil. 3:8-9 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: Forever dedicated to you, I am. My glory is to glorify you alone. I am your disciple. Psa. 71:18 Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have showed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. While my physical infirmities multiply, give me greater privileges in the world of grace to make up for the decline of blessing in the world of nature. Nothing can make you forsake me if I have not forsaken you. Your promise has kissed my fear into silence. Selah! Psa. 71:21 Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side. Let my life be a record of trust that others can read, because your power is so worthy of praise! The purpose of life for every believer is to work zealously for the accomplishment of your praise. Psa. 71:24 My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt. You are mighty to save. It is safest to lean on you. Amen.

O WORSHIP the King, all glorious above,

And gratefully sing His wonderful love; Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days, Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise. O tell of His might, and sing of His grace, Whose robe is the light, whose canopy space! His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form, And dark is His path on the wings of the storm. Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air; it shines in the light. It streams from the hills; it descends to the plain, And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail. Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end! Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend! Robert Grant, 1833

PRAYER DIARY

1)

TIMEWORSHIP Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Welcome to all our visitors! Please take a white visitors card from the back of the pew in front of you. Fill it out and put it in the offering plate or hand it to us in the lobby. INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
