2. Qualification of applicants
(For those who wish to enroll in October, 2010) Applicants must obtain masters degree or are expected to obtain it by September 30, 2010. (For those who wish to enroll in April, 2011) Applicants must obtain masters degree or are expected to obtain it by March 31, 2011. (For those who wish to enroll in October, 2011) Applicants must obtain masters degree or are expected to obtain it by September 30, 2011.

3. Application procedures
(1) Application period From July 15, 2010 to July 23, 2010 (9:00 12:00, 13:00 17:00) (except Saturday and Sunday) Postal application is available stamped by the due day indicated above. If you apply by mail, youre required to use the registered letter by express. If you dont live in Japan, please purchase the International Postal Money Order of 30,000 yen at a postal office and submit it with other application documents. If youre a Japanese Government Scholarship Student and youll be so after entering here, its not necessary for paying it. However, youre required to submit the Certificate of Status for Japanese Government Scholarship Student. (I) Masters thesis (a) Applicants who have completed a masters course ) A copy of the Masters thesis in Japanese or English ) Abstract of the Masters thesis in English (about 1,200 words): Use A4 sized papers and put the prescribed form (form 6) as the front page. (b) Applicants who are expected to complete a masters course A summary of the research program in Masters course in English (about 1,200 words): Use A4 sized papers and put the prescribed form (form 6) as the front page. (c) Copies of published manuscripts, if any. (J) Study program State the outline of your major field of study and the details of your study program in English (about 1,200 words). Use A4 sized papers and put the prescribed form (form 7) as the front page. (K) Certificate of registration matters (if you live in Japan) (L) Address sheet : [prescribed form (form 8)] (M) Stamped addressed envelope(23.5cm12.0cm, 360 yen-stamp) [NOTE] Official transcript from Chinese University must be accredited and sent directly from the China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center (CDGDC) to Kobe University Graduate School of Maritime Sciences (Registered code 600504) by Friday, July 23, 2010. (Any transcript sent personally by the -2-

applicant will not be accepted.) Procedure is to apply online and mail ones official transcript to CDGDC and pay the required fee. For details please visit the website: http://www.cdgdc.edu.cn Regarding any certificates written in foreign languages other than English, applicants must attach a Japanese translation with a certification issued by such public organizations as the Japanese government or the overseas missions of a foreign government. Applicants should select a professor as a major supervisor and contact the professor in our school. Any application documents will not be accepted without nominating the professor. Any changes and corrections will not be accepted after the submission of application documents. The entrance fee is not refundable.

4. Examination
Applicants will be examined by the oral test and the submitted documents. The oral test will be focused on the followings: (1) Masters thesis or a summary of the research program (2) English ability (3) Study program

Notification of results

We will notify at 13:00 of September 14, 2010 on the bulletin board and our website. Any inquiries over the phone will not be accepted.

7. Enrollment procedures

(For those who enroll in October, 2010) Each semester The tuition fee for the second semester should be paid by the end of October, 2010. (For those who enroll in April, 2011) Tuition Annum 535,800 The tuition fee for the first semester should be paid by the end of April, 2011. (For those who enroll in October, 2011) The tuition fee for the second semester should be paid by the end of October, 2011. The tuition fee mentioned above is an example of 2010. If tuition fee is revised during your enrollment, the revised amount will be effective. [NOTE] (1) The entrance fee is not refundable. 8. Preventative Measures Against Measles and Rubella


To prevent a possible outbreak of Measles and Rubella on campus, Kobe University requires -4-

all students to submit either one of these two certificates: Vaccination Certificate given to students who were inoculated with measles and rubella vaccines (or MR vaccine) within the last five years. Antibody Test Certificate given to students who display adequate antibody titer in their blood to prevent developing measles or rubella within the last five years. Students entering in April must submit either one of the above to the Medical Center for Student Health Service in Fukae campus by the beginning of April. (Students entering in October must submit at the routine medical check-up scheduled in mid-October. Both certificates must be issued by an accredited medical institution.

9. Others
As part of the student support, therere exempt of tuition and scholarships.

10. Personal information


(1) (2) (3) We treat personal information strictly confidential according to laws and university policy concerning the protection of personal information. We use personal information which we gain through entrance examination for selection, entrance procedure and reference purpose. The personal information on the application form for those who enter Kobe University will also be used for student guidance, education, and tuition fee related purpose after entrance. (4) We will entrust part of our business to companies. At that time, we will give them the minimum information necessary and they will have the obligation to keep those information confidential.)
