SCOPE OF THIS DOCUMENT: This specification describes the essential considerations in the selection, installation, calibration, testing and commissioning of Electronic PT. The Contractor shall be responsible for the selection of the Electronic PT suitable for its intended application, its procurement, packing, calibration, testing, and shipment to site, installation and commissioning at site. SCOPE OF SUPPLY: The number of Electronic PT to be supplied and installed shall be as per the requirements indicated in the Basic Bid Work and the P & IDs. ELECTRONIC PRESSURE TRANSMITTER: Type: Electronic type. General: Transmitters shall use HART protocol for communication. Smart type transmitters shall be supplied with required number of hand held calibrators. Transmitters shall be immune to Radio frequency interference due to walkie-talkie, paging system, communication system etc. All electronice modules shall be designed for short circuit protection.

Span shall be continuously adjustable over the transmitter range. The Electronic PT shall be provided with NPT (F) cable entries. The transmitter signal range shall be 4-20mA, DC, 2 wire type and capable of delivering the rated current signal into external load of 600 ohms when powered with 24V DC. All transmitters shall be provided with integral output meters. The output meter shall be suitable for use in the hazardous area. The change in out put due to change in ambient temperature (10 degree Celsius) should be very minimum. Electronic PT shall have externally adjustable zero and span. Setting adjustment shall have locking adjustment Process connection from bottom side, 316SS threaded NPTF. Material: The material requirements for Electronic PT shall in general be according to clause 3.6.4.5 of Instrumentation Design Criteria. Transmitter body studs shall be high tensile stainless steel, or other corrosionresistant material for higher stress levels. Instrument parts shall be resistant to the corrosive properties of the process fluid and ambient conditions to which they are exposed.

Enclosure Class: In addition to weatherproof, the Electronic PT enclosure shall be explosion-proof to NEMA-4X and certified by third party statutory bodies like UL/FM/BASEEFA or equal for use in hazardous area (CL 1,DIV.1, GR.D).
EQUIPMENT PROTECTION: Electronic PT protection requirements shall in general be as per clause no. 3.6.4.4 of Instrumentation Design Criteria. Over range protection shall be 130% of range or maximum pressure whichever is higher. Transmitter shall be furnished with all necessary weather and anti-corrosion protection to prevent damage from saline and corrosive process atmosphere. All field transmitters and transducers shall be intrinsically safe for the specified hazardous area classification and intrinsic safety shall be achieved by means of external Zener Barriers. Recognized bodies like UL/FM/BASEEFA OR equal shall certify the instruments. INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS: The installation of Electronic PT shall in general be according to clause 3.6.4.6 of Instrumentation Design Criteria. The installation of Electronic PT shall be as per the Annexure-II (hook-up drawing). All pressure instruments shall be mounted as close as possible to sensing point. Mountings accessories required for Pressure Instrument shall be 316SS or better. Pressure Instruments shall be mounted such that they may be easily removed and adjusted with out deforming impulse lines. All instrument supports shall be galvanized prior to installation. Process fluid shall not be piped into any control room/ building. Instrument shall be mounted above the tapping for gas and below for liquids. Electronic PT shall be installed as per the attached hook-up drawing. CALIBRATION, INSPECTION & TESTING: Calibration, inspection and testing requirements shall in general be as per clause 3.6.4.7 of Instrumentation Design Criteria. All the instruments shall be factory calibrated for the specified ranges.
A third party agency like FM/BASEFFA or equivalent shall certify the transmitter circuit intrinsically safe as per the specified area classification. DOCUMENTATION: The documentation requirements shall in general be according to clause 3.6.6.2 of Instrumentation Design Criteria. Vendor shall furnish certificate for intrinsic safety from statutory body. TAGGING & NAMEPLATES: Tagging & Nameplate requirements shall in general be according to clause 3.6.6.1 of Instrumentation Design Criteria. The Pressure transmitter shall be provided with SS name plate indicating the following: Tag Number Manufacturers Name and Model Number Adjustable range Element material Enclosure classification. Body material. Service.

A warning label which reads (EXPLOSION PROOF INSTRUMENT, ISOLATE ELSEWHERE BEFORE OPENING, shall be affixed on Electronic PT which are certified as explosion proof. REVIEW & APPROVAL: Review and approval of purchase specifications and other related documents should in general be according to clause 3.6.6.3 of Instrumentation Design Criteria.

VENDOR PRE-QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The Vendor pre-qualification requirements shall in general be according to clause 3.6.6.4 of Instrumentation Design Criteria. PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT: The Electronic PT shall be prepared for shipment in accordance to clause 3.6.6.5 of Instrumentation Design Criteria. The Electronic PT shall be supplied in sealed heavy plastic bags containing desiccant materials during shipment. All threaded and flanged opening shall be suitable protected to prevent entry of foreign material. RECEIPT & STORAGE: Receipt and storage of the electronic pressure transmitter shall be in accordance to clause 3.6.6.6 of Instrumentation Design Criteria.
