GOAL The objective of this performance task is to instill awareness in the school community and society with the current state or situation of our natural resources, human or labor resources, and the rights of consumers. The students will also take a stand in adopting advocacies for the conservation and preservation of natural resources and the promotion of labor and consumer rights. ROLE Each student is an advocate-activist fighting for the protection of resources and promotion of labor and consumer rights. AUDIENCE Fellow classmates, concerned government officials and fellow citizens SITUATION Our natural resources are in peril of running out if irresponsible use and abuse are not corrected. Also, the labor force and consumers alike are experiencing serious problems threatening their employment and their purchasing power on commodities. PRODUCT PERFORMANCE Each group of three (3) students must work hand in hand in choosing interrelated topics on natural and human resources as well as consumer rights. Each of them, however, must work individually on a specific topic (i.e. the beauty and sad state of nature, labor force contribution and woes, the power of the purse). The students must render their work on recycled old folders, cartolinas and poster papers with one half showing the beautiful state of nature, labor force or human resources and consumers, while the lower flap shows the sad/sorry state or current issue/problem. Each folder must contain a short essay and a catchy slogan (in English or in Filipino) calling for positive action in the protection of the environment or promotion of the rights of workers and consumers. All students will corroborate their works together forming one long poster a.k.a.balatengga to encapsulate the main idea, topic or agenda using bamboo slides as edges and will be displayed inside the classrooms like a gallery. The making of the performance task will be done during one (1) Social Studies period, after which the groups will be asked to explain and present their finished products on the next class meeting.
