13 The district must have more funding to improve academic achievement. 14 The district must find a way for funds to go directly to schools. The district's finance system needs to be redesigned so that 70% or more of funding follows students to their public school or program of choice. 16 Funding for schools should be weighted to particular needs such as poverty. What do you believe is the most important role a school board member should play in ensuring all students in the district receive the education they need and deserve?

There are a number of items which I believe are essential. 1. Equitable treatment of all schools, charter & public. 2. We must empower principals and teachers to adapt to the students needs. 3. We must hold principals and teachers accountable for student performance. 4. Board Members MUST manage the business of education for success (financial, performance, innovation, etc., ) 5. We must always remember 1st and foremost that we are responsible for equipping the next generation.

Do you support the nearly one billion dollar tax increase on the ballot this year? Why or why not? No. First of all, we should not address an operational issue such as levying taxes thru constitutional amendment. Second, any proposed "Purpose Tax" should always have a sunset provision coupled with a definitive plan as to implementation, use and benchmarking to measure effectiveness or success. Amendment 66 fails on all these areas.

Were you endorsed by the union? No.

What do you believe is the most important role a school board member should play in ensuring all students in the district receive the education they need and deserve? I feel that the most important role a school board member should play in ensuring all students get the education they deserve is by judiciously overseeing the allocation of funds and resources. A school board member should be an advocate for students and teachers alike. They have the primary responsibility to ensure all students are receiving the best education for the available tax dollars.

If you have children who do or did attend schools in the district please list those schools. Please print or type your response. I have 2 children currently attending Christa McAuliffe Elementary.

Do you support the nearly one billion dollar tax increase on the ballot this year? Why or why not? I am never in support of any amendment to the Constitution without significant cause. In this case, the supporters of this amendment appear to have two objectives increase taxes and do an end around on TABOR. I support neither objective for the following reasons: 1. The tax increase is not needed. I am tired of hearing that Its for the kids. In this case, it is to save PERA, nothing more and nothing less. 2. The tax increase is not fair and actually requires more mill levy taxes at the local level. Its like getting the tax increase and then holding it hostage so that only those districts who successfully get a mill levy approved will benefit fully. 3. I value the limitations placed on our government by TABOR and do not want to see anything passed that has the end result of weakening the only real defense we have to unnecessary tax increases.

Were you endorsed by the union? No. I have not met with any union representatives and have had no union endorsements.
