This Is What Richard Fimbres Has Done For Tucson

Worked to create more than 1,100 jobs during his time on the Council. Worked to get the Bridges Project (Kino/I-10) constructed in Ward 5. Worked to get the Costco Store, APAC Pharmaceuticals, Atlas Copco, American Tire, Curacao, Quik Trip, Goodwill Stores and more than a dozen businesses to open their doors in Ward 5. Worked to get businesses, such as Bruker Nano and CAID Industries, to be able to expand their operations, doubling the number of employees working. Worked to get 71 new businesses opened through a streamlined process by changing the Certificate of Occupancy requirements. Generating a revenue stream for the Citys transit system through my proposal lifting the restrictions on advertising on Sun Tran busesapproved by Mayor and Council by a 7-0 vote. Worked on developing private/public partnerships, such as Bring Back the Splash, which raised $100,000 in advertising sponsorships that opened seven pools last year closed due to budget cuts and opened eight this year. Nominated for the Metropolitan Pima Alliance (MPA) Common Ground Award. Led the effort to change how the City purchases materials by utilizing the P-Card, instead of writing checks. To be implemented over the next two years, with a potential savings of millions of dollars. The City of Tucson also gets a rebate for using the P-Card, which has increased to $440,000 (or four times what it was in 2010). Expanding the opportunities for Tucson owned businesses wishing to bid on City contracts through the Local Purchase Ordinance. Worked to get the largest annexation in Tucson for 15 years completed the Valencia Crossing, resulting in $32 million in initial fees over the next eight years. This received the 2013 MPA Common Ground Award Winner.
