Lesson Plan Grade Level: 4th Grade Math Class Duration: 45 Minutes Learning Objectives:
Students will be able to round numbers to the nearest 5 Students will have a clear understanding of the rules of rounding and be able to remember them with a 90% accuracy rate After completing day one and day two of this lesson students will be able to round any number from 1-100 (excluding numbers ending with 5 or 0) with a 90% accuracy rate

Lesson Summary:
This is the second day of practicing rounding numbers to the nearest 5. Prior to todays lesson, students will have been taught how to round and the rules in which rounding follows. Students will take time to write in their math journals the rules for rounding before starting the days activity. Students will practice rounding numbers as they try to be the first to cover all of their numbers in a game of math bingo! I (the teacher) will set the pace for the game. If students are still having trouble grasping the idea of rounding we can start off at a slow pace, allowing students to thoroughly think through the problem and ask questions if theyre confused. Eventually, the goal is to go at a quickened pace where the students are racing to cover their sheet.

(10:12-10:35) Ask students to clean off their desk and return bingo chips (10:35-10:37) Talk with students about the activity and ask if they have any further questions in relation to what theyve learned in rounding so far (10:37-10:44) Remind students about quiz at the end of the week and dismiss class (10:44-10:45)

Assessment: Pre-Assessment:
Have students write in their math journals the rules to rounding

Formative Assessment:
Starting off bingo at a slow pace will allow students to ask any

questions they may have, but Ill also be able to ask them questions about the cards I hold up This will give me a good idea of whether the students have effectively grasped the rounding concept or not

Summative Assessment:
At the end of the week the students will be given a math quiz which I will collect and grade. This will show me who has fully grasped the concept of rounding, and who may need a little extra help.
