he Beginning of

the Roman Empire.

Following the battle of Actium in 31 BCE Julius Caesars nephew and heir became the first emperor and took the name Caesar Julius Caesar. And he did not want to be known as an emperor he dictator. He ruled the empire from 30BCE until 14 CE when he died.

(This is a Picture of the Beginning of Rome)

When Caesar was in charge he secured Romes boarders, initiated a lot of building projects, and secured the long lasting empires name. But this was the only the begging for the Roman Empire. There a lot more to come for this empire.

I think that the beginning of the Roman Empire is the most important period of the whole Roman Empire because if the things in the beginning did not happen that would affect the whole time period that the Roman Empire ruled the world.

(This is a Picture from the Second Punic War)

The War of Cannae:

The Battle of Cannae was a major battle of the second Punic war. The battle took place on 2 August 216 BC in Apulia in southeast Italy. The army of Carthage was led by Hannibal. When they were recovering from their losses at Trebia (218BC) and Lake Trasimene (217BC). The Roman decided to let Hannibal lead the battle at Cannae. The army consisted of roughly 86,000 Roman troops. The romans massed their heavy infantry than usual and Hannibal enforced the double tactic. This was so successful that the Roman army was destroyed.

The War of Zama: The War of Adrianople:

The battle of Zama occurred around October 19, 202 BC. And it was the last battle of the Second Punic War. The Roman Army led by Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus defeated a force led by Hannibal. Soon after Hannibals Defeat on home ground the Carthaginians sued for Peace. The defeat of the war of Zama. Ended the 17yeat war of The Second Punic War. The battle of Adrianople occurred on 9 August 378. And is sometimes known as the battle of Hadrianopolis. The war was between a roman army led by the roman Emperor Valens and the Gothic Rebels led by Fritigern. The battle took place for about 8 miles north of Adrianople in European Turkey near the border of Greece in the Roman province of Thracia and ended with an overwhelming victory for the Goths.

Nero:

Nero was Romans Emperor from 54 to 68. And he was the last Roman

Emperor in the Julio Caludian dynasty. Nero was adopted by his great uncle Claudius to become his successor and succeeded to the throne in 54 following Claudius death. Nero mainly focused much of his attention on diplomacy, trade and enhancing the cultural life of the Empire. He built and ordered theaters and promoted athletic games. In 64 AD most of Rome was destroyed in the Great Fire of Rome. Nero himself had started in order to clear land for his planned palatial complex the Domus Aurea.

(This is a a Picture of Nero)

I think that Nero is very important in the Ancient Rom civilization because he was the emperor that was very interested in building entertainment in the city. And he was not much of a dictator and thats a good thing.

Valens:

Valens was the emperor

of Rome from 364 to 378. He was giving the eastern part of Rome by his brother Valentine. Valens was also sometimes known as the last True Roman was defeated and killed in the Battle of Adrianople. (More information on this battle on page 2) I think he is very important in Roman History because he was the last true roman man. The Pantheon:
The Pantheon is a building in Rome, Italy commissioned by Marcus Agrippa during the reign of Augustus as a temple to all the gods of ancient Rome. And it was then rebuilt by the emperor Hadrian in about 126 AD. The building is circular with a portico of large granite columns. There are eight in the first rank and two groups of four behind them. There is central opening in the dome that was built 3,000 years after. It is one of the best preserved of all of the Roman Buildings. It has been in constant use in history, since the 7th century. The Pantheon has been used as a Roman Catholic Church dedicated to St. Marys and the Martyrs. I think that the pantheon is very important in the roman history because it has been used for many years. And it has been around for many centurys.

Statue of Venus:
The Statue of Venus is also known as Venus de Milo. Is an scient Greek statue and one of the most famous works od ancient Greek sculpture. The sculpture was created sometime between 130 and 100 BC. The Greek Goddess of love and beauty is named Venus. The sculpture is slightly bigger than the actual size of Venus. It is made out of marble. The arms of the sculpture were lost when they found it. I think that the sculpture is a very unique piece. And it is very important to romans because she is one of the most important pieces of art.

Government and law

American Government:
The government of the United State is a Federal Government. The federal
government is made up of their different branches. There is the judicial, legislative, and executive. The powers of the three branches are vested by the Congress and the president. It is also vested by the Supreme Court officials. In American government the people are the power. They have a say in the government. They help elect the president and make the laws. The president has some power but not all the power. The power is split up into different sections.

Roman Government:
Rome was tooled by Kings and Emperors. And they were elected from each of Romes major tribes. Rome was a republic called the Roman Republic. And in the Republic the senate held great authority but did not have any real legislative power. The Roman Republic was a weird mixture between democracy and oligarchy. The government had no fixed bureaucracy and collected taxes through tax farming.

Rise of Christianity:
In 313 CE the Roman Emperor Constantine the great ended al persecution and declared

toleration of Christianity. At that time Christianity became the official state religion of the empire. By approving Christianity the roman state directly undermined its religious traditions. The Romans considered there ruler a god. But the Christians belief in one god (who was not the emperor). And this belief weekend the authority and credibility of any new emperor. I think this is a very important event because it changed so many details in the Roman Government. Also it Helped with the ruling of the roman empire

The Assignations of
Ceasar:
The Assassination of Julius Ceasar was the result of a conspiracy by many Roman senators and Marcus Julius Brutus. They al stabled him to the death. In a room across from the Theatre of Pompey. Ceasar was killed on March 15 4 BC. At the time he was killed Ceasar was the dictator of the roman Republic. And he was just recently declared dictator. When they declared Caesar dictator many of the senators feared Caesar. And they wanted to over throw his dictatorship. I think it is a very important event in Roman history because he was the first dictator that Rome had. And he was a very powerful and wise man. And if he didnt die and ruled Rome for a long time out whole future could be different
