CHORAL INTROIT *CALL to WORSHIP From every nation, from all tribes and people and languages, they cry out in a loud voice: Salvation belongs to our God, and to the Lamb! We truly understand that God shows no partiality, In every nation anyone who is in awe of God and does what is right is accepted by God. And whoever welcomes others, welcomes our Creator who sent us Jesus. Come, let us gather in worship, in prayer, meditation and song; Come, let us celebrate our God who created all things and welcomes all! *HYMN #463G Revive Us Again *CALL TO and PRAYER of CONFESSION Almighty God, we confess that we judge others and we play favorites. We forget that all of us are made in Your image, and that all of us have sinned and fall short. Forgive us for our pride and arrogance, our selfishness and self-centeredness, and when we judge and despise others, even when we claim that judging others is wrong. Turn us back to Your path, turn us back to Your love, and guide us

in ways to restore and heal relationships. In the name of Jesus, who emptied his pride to the point of dying on the cross, now hear us as we continue to confess in silence *ASSURANCE of PARDON and *GLORIA PATRI *AFFIRMATION of FAITH- Apostles Creed (back cover) Hearing Gods Word A WELCOME and ANNOUNCEMENTS Childrens Time ANTHEM:

It explores practical issues of faith and life, tells stories of Presbyterians who are living their faith and covers a wide range of church news and activities. PresbyteriansToday features easy-to-understand articles about what Presbyterians believe, Bible study and devotional helps, and provocative commentary on the churchs role in society. Currently the Congregational Life Committee is receiving 6 copies and sharing them with other church members. The committee would like to offer any church family a subscription of their own by sharing the cost of $14.95 and asking $7.50 for a subscription of 1 year (11 issues). Please contact Faye Crispin for details and to place your order. The Mission of the Month for October is: Habitat for Humanity Please keep this ministry in your prayers. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit Christian housing ministry which seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world. To accomplish these goals, they invite people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller, along with his wife, Linda. Today, they have built over 400,000 houses around

the world, providing more than 2 million people with safe, decent, affordable shelter. For more information you can visit www.habitat.org. Our congregation has been involved in supporting Habitat since it began in Salem County.

Why is per capita important? Per capita brings Presbyterians together literally! Presbyterians are connected in many ways, including our church government. We believe we discern best what God is calling us to do when we gather as governing bodies, seek[ing] together to find and represent the will of Christ (Book of Order G-4.0301). 1)Per capita dollars pay for the costs of holding a General Assembly including paying for the travel, room and board of commissioners and advisory delegates, several of whom would not be able to afford these expenses on their own. 2)Per capita makes it possible for Presbyterians to govern ourselves the way we do. Presbyterians have a form of government built upon shared power and mutual accountability as we seek together to find and represent the will of Christ. By providing the primary means through which commissioners and advisory delegates can gather to do their work, per capita dollars help to undergird our governance system.

Plans are being made for this event on Sunday, October 27th from 6-8 pm. Once again it will be held in our church parking lot. (If it rains it will be held in the church social hall.) Heres how it works: Everyone is invited to dress in costume, parents too! You will be able to walk around and get treats from the trunks/beds of decorated vehicles lined up around the parking lot. There will also be: Hot dogs Apple cider Chips, Cookies Crafts Smores

3) Our Constitution provides a moral and theological compass that builds community and calls us to Christian faithfulness in gratitude to God. Per capita makes possible our effort for visible unity of the church of Jesus Christ. The PC(USA), as with other faith traditions and denominations, is but a small part of the one church of Jesus Christ. We affirm that Gods call is for the church to be one. 4)And Per capita makes it possible for us to maintain our historical awareness. Our historical heritage helps us make informed decisions for the future. The Presbyterian Historical Society is our national archives and historical research center. It collects, preserves and shares the history of the American Presbyterian and Reformed tradition.

THE APOSTLES CREED I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints;
