A reagent for detection
of HLA-B27 Antigen
Human Leukocyte Antigen B27 is a class I surface antigen
encoded by the B locus in the major histocompatibility complex
(MHC) that presents microbial antigens to T-Lymphocytes.
The expression of HLA-B27 antigen is associated with the
onset of a class of seronegative spondylo-arthropathies that
include ankylosing spondylitis, Reiter’s disease, psoriatic
arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease.
Specificity
Anti-B7 antibody minimizes cross-reactivity
of Anti-B27 antibodies with the B7 antigen
– lower probability of false positives.
Sensitivity
Gating of T-lymphocytes (CD3+) to reduce
background; Use of two clones of Anti-HLA-
B27 enhances sensitivity of the test.
