SkyScape Vegetative Tray

ITEM NUMBER: Vegetative Tray Drip Irrigation
Description:
The Firestone SkyScape Vegetative Tray provides a building owner with a quick and easy way to turn any new or existing single-ply roof into an environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing vegetative roof system. The SkyScape tray can contribute to a buildings LEED Certification by the USGBC (United States Green Building Council). Comprised of a heavy duty polypropylene, the SkyScape Vegetative Tray is designed to be easily placed directly on top of an approved slip sheet on top of the Firestone roofing membrane system. The channeled bottom allows metered drainage for stormwater management while the upper injection molded drains enable airflow and overflow drainage while inhibiting roots from penetrating the roofing system. The Drip Irrigation System contains a grid of low pressure agricultural-grade lines placed in the trays and connected to a water source.

Method of Application:
1. Prior to installation it is the Owners responsibility to determine whether the structure is adequately reinforced to withsta nd the added weight of a fully saturated vegetative tray. This decision should be completed with the aid of a registered structural engineer. 2. Perform tray installation only after the Firestone Roofing System has been inspected and found to be in accordance with current Firestone Specifications. 3. Place the vegetative trays directly on the roofing membrane. 4. Using the interlocking sides overlap the vegetative trays to one another. 5. Secure the trays to each other using the 3/8 removable drive-pin fastener. 6. With trays secured in place, lay out drip irrigation lines, emitter side up, on top of retention layer. 7. Make connections of irrigation lines to water supply provided and install regulator to govern pressures exceeding 15 psi. 8. Conduct testing procedures to verify performance prior to installing growing medium. 9. Add growing media to a depth in accordance with the design plans and specifications. Depths range from 5-1/4 to 8 inches. 10. Add vegetative cover. 11. After all trays have been installed sufficiently water new plugs to ensure growth. Note: General maintenance (including watering and weeding) is the responsibility of the building owner. See the SkyScape Maintenance Guide at the Technical Database.

Precautions:
A certified Structural Engineer must be contacted prior to installation to ensure that the deck can withstand the weight of the Vegetative trays when fully saturated. To facilitate drainage a minimum roof slope of 1/8 in 12 must be provided. Vegetative Roofing Trays shall be installed between April 1 and November 1, but not when the weather is below 45 F (7.2 C) or above 95 F (35 C). Do not drag modules into position. Use caution when lifting trays. Check roof drains regularly to ensure there are no obstructions to impede water flow.
