God: One or Triune?

There are many articles, papers, books, and posts about the subject of the Godhead. It has been argued about since the beginning of the Church two thousand years ago.

This writing is not intended to convince anyone that is of another mind, for I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is a revelation from God, and is not obtained by ones intellect or devotion to study of the subject alone. You cant study and find God, He is self revealing. I write this to take my place in the cloud of witnesses, giving testimony of what God has revealed to me. I write this to be a help to others who believe as I, that in perhaps some small way they will be built up in the faith and in their understanding. I write this in part that God might use it to reveal himself to the reader that has not seen it beforehand. There are many in this world that of much greater intellect than I. Yet there are theologians and religious men that have devoted their entire lives to the study of God and His Word that do not understand, see, or accept, what God has revealed to me, and many others before me. That does not does not make me greater, better, or smarter. I do consider myself to be blessed with this wonderful revelation of truth, and a small portion of wisdom for which I thank and praise my God. Matthew 11: 25-27* At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. 26* Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

27* All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. 1 Corinthians 1:19-29* For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20* Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21* For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22* For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23* But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24* But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25* Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26* For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27* But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28* And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29* That no flesh should glory in his presence. I have no interest in winning an argument or a debate. I only desire to proclaim the truth. I have never seen anyone won over by debate. It is indeed between you and God alone. The question is; Do you want to know the truth no matter the cost, or where the chips fall? If this is true for you, then simply diligently seek God on the matter. God will reveal himself to whosoever He desires. God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). It is indeed by His grace and His mercy that He reveals Himself to whomsoever he will. Romans 9:15* For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. There have been two main scriptures that have been used to give support for the Triune doctrine. The first is Matthew 28:19 - Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. It should be noted that the terms Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not names but titles, and that the word name is singular. I am a son, I am a father, and I have a spirit, but those are not my names. The name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost is Jesus. Read all through the book of Acts and see what name the Apostles baptized in. It was the name of Jesus every time (Acts 2:38, 8:16, 10:48, 19:5). They knew what that name was. Further, we are instructed by the Apostle Paul that whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him (Colossians 3:17). The second scripture is 1 John 5:7 - For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. This was added to the Bible somewhere around the 14th or 15th century. It has been removed from almost all modern Bibles with the exception of the King James. Most orthodox Christian scholars

and Trinitarians realize and agree that this indeed was added. There seems to be no argument regarding that the Old Testament proclaims and bears witness to the fact that there is but one God. Nowhere does it says any different throughout its pages. All through the Gospels Jesus continued to bare out the fact in all that He spoke, that God was indeed one, and that there was none other (Mark 12:29). All that being said, I believe that most that would consider themselves to be Trinitarian do not believe that there are three Gods. They know that the Bible is clear that there is but one God. This is the same ignorance shown by some of a Trinitarian belief to say that we are Jesus Only, or to say that we somehow deny the Father or the Holy Spirit. However, Trinitarians do believe that God is a Triune God, made up of three persons, coequal and co-eternal. This is despite the fact that nowhere is it stated anywhere in the Bible. First we need to do away with the foolish concept of three persons. Look up the word person in just about any dictionary and you will see that the word person is defined as a human being, whether man, woman, or child. or A human being regarded as an individual. We know that God is a Spirit (John 4;24) and that God is not a man (Numbers 23:19). Therefore there cannot be three persons in the Godhead. The only person was when God manifested Himself in flesh and dwelt amongst us. The man Christ Jesus was indeed a person. We know that there are not three Gods, as most professing to be Christians would agree. We can see also that there are not three persons. What about manifestations? Manifestation: An indication of the existence, reality, or presence of something. One of the forms in which someone or something, such as a person, a divine being, or an idea, is revealed. God has manifested Himself in many ways to man since our creation. The burning bush, the pillar of a cloud, the pillar of fire, in a thick cloud, etc. God the Father in Himself, is not a manifestation of Himself. The Bible is clear that no man has seen God at anytime. However, God has chosen to manifest Himself and reveal Himself to man in many ways. God is indeed omnipresent, but is not felt or revealed to us at all times and all places. God is a Spirit, and by the very title the Holy Ghost, or the Holy Spirit is a Spirit. It is not a third person of a Godhead, but is indeed the Spirit of God Himself as felt, made known, or manifested to man. John 1:18 and 1 John 4:12 declares that no man has seen God at anytime, speaking of the Father. But we can see, feel, or hear manifestations of God. This included His manifestation in the flesh during the time that Jesus walked amongst us. Jesus said he that hath seen me hath seen the Father John 14:9). Jesus indeed was a manifestation of God. He was God manifested in the flesh. The Spirit that was contained in the flesh of Jesus was God, but not all of God is was contained by that flesh. The flesh of man could not contain all that there is of God, no more than all of

God was contained in the burning bush, the pillar of a cloud, etc. That is why Jesus prayed (talked with the Father) just as we do, for He was flesh just as we are. I actually get excited about the fact that we can communicate with God exactly as Jesus did! God came in the flesh of a man to be the perfect, sinless sacrifice, that he might pay for our sin and redeem us to Himself. What a wonderful story of the love that God has for us! Man is the only living creature that God formed from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (Genesis 2;7). We are not our bodies! We have a spirit and living soul that are eternal. Likewise the flesh of Jesus was not God, but the Spirit of God dwelt within Him. (Matthew 1:23). The truth is that it is a much more beautiful truth than a doctrine if a Triune God will allow for. God did not send someone else to redeem us and die for our sins, He came himself! He manifested Himself in flesh and he called that flesh His Son. If we then have obeyed the Gospel (Acts 2:38, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4), then we will also have His Spirit in us whereby we are called the Sons of God (John 1:12, Romans 8:14, Phillip 2:15, 1 John 3:2), whereby we cry Abba Father (Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:6). What we have then is not three persons, or three Gods. We have but one God that has manifested Himself to man in many ways since the beginning of time. 1 Timothy 3:16* And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Isaiah 43:10-15 10Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. 11I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour. 12I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God. 13Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it? 14Thus saith the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships. 15I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King. Zechariah 14:9 - And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one. Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Mark 12:29 - And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: John 1:1-14 - 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. They wanted to stone Him because He was saying that He was God. He called Himself I AM. That is what God called Himself when He spoke to Moses (Exodus 3:14). John 10:30 - I and my Father are one (One Spirit). John 12:44-46 44Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. 45And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. 46I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. John 14:7-9 7* If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. 8* Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9* Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?. II Corinthians 5:18-19 18And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto

them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Ephesians 4:4-6 4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Philippians 2:6-11 6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Colossians 1:15-19 15Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:16For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; Colossians 2:9-10 - 9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: I Timothy 3:16 - And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. Titus 2:13-14 -13Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. I John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. Revelation 1:7-8 7Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 8I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Revelation 4:2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. We will see only one on the throne, that is Jesus glorified as our Lord, God and Savior. Some expect to see a Trinity or at least the Son sitting on the right hand of the Father. The term seated on the right hand of the Father was merely an expression of power and authority. You cannot sit physically on the right hand of the Spirit of God. God is omnipresent. Where would you sit? God said that He would not give His Glory with another (Isaiah 42:8). Yet the Bible is clear that All Power and All Glory go the Jesus (Matthew 28:18, Revelation 5:13). To wit,

Jesus is God! - quod erat demonstrandum Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 20:11-12 11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works (Only One Throne and Only One on the throne). Revelation 22:13 - I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
