Media Structures: Direction of Further Research

1) The rst objective was to update Hallin and Mancinis model. Their model was built specically for comparative research between European countries. By updating some of the language used we are given a visual instrument we can use to compare global samplings.

Hallin and Mancinis Development model re-imagined.

2) The following is a hypothetical conception used to sort, and attempt to make sense of, the data and resources gathered:

The MiddleEast region, exhibits the most advanced pluralist system of the three regions surveyed. Latin America is considered Democratic/Market; while the EU is strongly state sponsored, and in some ways, the least cohesive. Each of these assessments is contextually arrived at - Europes pantheon of languages are a barrier to cohesion; the Middle East-North Africas common language and breadth/depth of inuence is a natural arena for strong media competition. While Latin Americas proximity to the United States as helped shape media into a similar democratic oligopoly.

3) The remaining questions for further research are in the data. The most striking of which is that the aggregate Gini CoEcient shows a mildly strong negative correlation, in the regions surveyed, and a mildly strong positive correlation in the Middle East-North African region, why?
