Installation Overview
The overall installation steps are listed below:
1. Please check the system requirements first before installing ThinkFree Server.
2. Copy ThinkFree Server Distribution to the desired server. You may download the latest
version at ThinkFree Website. (www.thinkfree.com)
3. Select the first application server technology that you wish to use. The Standalone
Distribution version includes an application server. Install the application server first, if you
wish to use WAR Distribution to complete the server installation.
4. Install ThinkFree Server Distribution using the application server that you just installed. (The
full application server will be installed all at once, if you are using ThinkFree Standalone
Distribution.)
1. Enables ThinkFree Server to perform its best by using the recommended system
configuration.
2. Minimum system requirements for running ThinkFree Server. Features are limited and
ThinkFree Server’s performance is not guaranteed.

Standalone Distribution
Standalone Distribution is included within the application server. It provides an easy and comfortable
GUI (Graphic User Interface) and is also very easy to install and remove using our automated Installer
Wizard. Silence Mode does not support a GUI screen and must be installed in text mode by using the
default settings.
WAR Distribution
The WAR Distribution version does not include an application server. This version is only able to install
the ThinkFree Server to your selected server.
1. Please select the correct installation file for your operating system:
Once downloading is complete, go to the folder where the downloaded file is stored.
Double-click the “install file” to process the installation. (Over 150 MB of free space on
your hard drive is required to complete the ThinkFree Server installation.)

You need to change the port that will be used by ThinkFree Server in case another application already
used the default port in the server that supposed used by ThinkFree Server.

Click the “Next” button after choosing your desired location for the program’s shortcuts.
We recommend that you add ThinkFree Server to the Start Menu.

For Windows
1. Window’s Menu: Start > Programs > ThinkFree Server
Execute the server by selecting Start Server
Close the server by selecting Stop Server
2. Direct Command: Execute the following scripts at the selected location’s /bin
Execute the server with Startup.bat
Close the server with shutdown.bat
For Linux
Caution: Must change to the Root user or who has equivalent Root authorities.

Execute the server with startup.sh
Caution: Due to the remaining log, statics information and the installed License file, directories will not be
deleted unless the uninstall completes. It will have no problem when attempting to re-install the next time
but it is recommended to manually remove those directories to clear the install directory.
For Windows
1. Window’s Menu: Start > Programs > ThinkFree Server
2. Execute Uninstall at the location where it was installed
For Linux
. Caution: Please use a Root user account or an account that has equivalent Root user authorities.

2. Command Line: Execute uninstall at the location where it was installed
If you need to restart the server due to an error that you encounter while running the service, we
recommend that you re-start the service through the server control panel on the administrator’s page.
Refer to the Server Control Menu.
System Configuration
This part explains about the administrator’s features such as managing the server license, server
control, setting passwords, updating email addresses, checking log files and supporting users.

License Information
If the installed license is valid, the information below will be displayed.
1. Type of license

License Transfer
It’s possible to transfer the server license key from specific locations to another location of your choice.
A request can be made to send the available license key to the administrator’s email address.
Caution: The license key that is already installed on the server will be deleted.
System Language
ThinkFree Server supports English and Korean. The following languages listed below are supported
on the user and administrator’s page.

Password Change
After entering the old password, input the new password. 8 to 20 ASCII characters are allowed to
make a password. The password is case sensitive so please make sure that the ‘Caps Lock’ key is not
on. For example, PASSWORD and PaSsWoRd, and password are not the same. It is strongly
recommended to not setup your password by using your phone number, account number or birthday
due to the fact that such passwords can easily be captured.

User Support
The URL that will be setup during this step will be applied to the online support link on the user’s page.
If you click the link, you will be redirected to a preset online support URL. The default setting links to
ThinkFree Help center.
Office Language
ThinkFree Office supports Multi-languages. It will check your OS systems language setting first in
order to match with ThinkFree Office suite language setting. Check the languages that are listed below
first, if you are looking for a specific language to use with ThinkFree Office suite. Select ‘Auto’ if you
want to automate the settings within the ThinkFree office suite.

Default Editor
You can create your own editor while using ThinkFree Server from the ‘start menu’ and ‘desktop’.
Once you set this up, the settings will be applied to every user. The desktop office suite will be
launched in desktop mode and the web office suite will be started in your browser.
Uncheck the features that are not displayed on the application menu and Tool-bar. Shortcut keys do
not work any longer.
Access
This part contains a way to control access authorization of your local repository. It is possible for you to
manage the authority to access your hard disk or removable/recordable devices (e.g. Floppy disk or
USB memory sticks) by checking the target drive in the check box to give users authority to access
them. For example, if you uncheck your local drive, then users will not be able to access the local hard
drive with ThinkFree Office suite.
Open, Save, Save As, Insert Image will not be displayed on locked-recordable drives.
Anti-Alias
ThinkFree Office supports Anti-Alias Text Rendering. If this option is turned on, text will display
smoothly. This feature is only applied to ThinkFree Write and Show. Both applications use anti-alias
text rendering as default. ThinkFree Calc does not include this feature.

User Accounts
You can check each user’s account, name, usage of storage, login date and time. It is also possible to
change the password and delete the user account.
To add a user:
Step 1: Create an account
Click the “Create User” tab.
Input the new user’s username, name, email and the desired password. (The default
password is 00000000)
Click the ‘Create User’ button.
Step 2: Verify and continue to make an account
Click “Create User” if you want to move a user to the list after you make an account.
Otherwise click “Create & Create Another User”.
Import Contacts
This is an advanced feature for those who wish to make multiple accounts at once.
The CSV file should be UTF-8 format. You will need to use an editor that supports
UTF-8 encoding.
Windows
The following are UTF-8 capable: ThinkFree Calc, or the Notepad editor that
is included with the Windows 2003 Server or Windows XP or Windows Vista
operating systems.
To save a file in UTF-8 format using Notepad, click File > Save As. Then,
expand the list of choices for the Encoding field and select UTF-8.
The Vim text editor (a popular version of the classic vi editor) is UTF-8
capable. To work with files in UTF-8 format using the Vim text editor, specify
the following:

Home Directory
The Home directory is placed the top hierarchy all file, folder structures started from here. Simply, you
can save all data in your storage.
Add Adapter
Adapter is a deployment application component to link online storage (nas, nfs, and file) and file
services (http, ftp, webdav). Adapter was deigned to connect different types of online storages and
online services by using a Simple Java interface. Using real-time deploy features, registration and
deregistration of the Adapter is possible by testing modes to check the Adapter’s operating status. If
an error is encountered ThinkFree Adapter will indicate the error and provide a resolution that may be
helpful.
Caution: Testing procedures is a part of Adapter’s registration process. Although the Adapter will be
registered, it can still fail to meet the minimum requirements during testing. There is also a possibility that
the adapter will not work properly. Therefore we recommend that you complete the testing procedures first
and then register the Adapter after it has passed the testing procedures.)

If you decide to delete the adapter, it will be removed from the list after clicking the
button.
Using SSL:
Step 1: Select Option
Select Enable.
Step 2: Save the setting
Click the ‘save’ button to save the setting.
Current Usage
The trial version can be downloaded at ThinkFree.com > ThinkFree Server and used
for 30 days.
The ThinkFree Server install package already includes a Web Server, DB, and JDK.
Therefore you don’t need anything else.
The first way to execute the Application is to click on one of the icons labeled W/C/S
on ThinkFree Server's Administrator's page.
The second way to execute the application is by clicking the short-cut icons on the
desktop after installing ThinkFree Server Launcher.
Since ThinkFree Server's Office suite is based on Java technology it must be run in a
Java Runtime Environment. For more information about JRE or installation, please
visit http://java.sun.com or have a look in our ThinkFree Server User Guide.
5. What if Internet Explorer launches when I execute ThinkFree Server? (If your default
browser is Internet Explorer)
Uncheck the “Reuse windows for launching shortcuts” box in Internet Explorer under
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing.
Check the Server URL in the Launcher Download section on the ThinkFree Server's
Administrator's page.
Input the exact Server URL while installing the Launcher.
If the work-around above does not resolve your issue, please contact your System
Administrator for the URL.
For customers who are already running servers, we have provided a zipped war file version.
Deployment instructions are listed below.
Stop Tomcat
Copy WAR file to TOMCAT_HOME/webaps/
Start Tomcat
A. Causes
There is an existing server already running.
Port 80 is already being used by another source.
There server does not have at least 150MB of free space.
B. Resolutions
Close the server that is running and re-launch ThinkFree Server.
Close the program that is using the port number that you need or
change the port number by reinstalling.
Make sure there is enough disk space by deleting unnecessary files.
2. The user page doesn't display while the server or the application is running.
A. Causes
Encountered internal errors.
system.out is in a locked status due to the administrator selecting
“execute windows”.
Corrupted license.
B. Resolutions
Restart the service at server control.
Restart the server if restarting the service doesn't work.
Uncheck the “selection” by pressing execute windows. (ESC)
Reinstall after uninstalling the server, if the above work around wasn't
helpful.
Re-apply the license on the administrator's page, request to re-generate
the license if you encounter this type of error continuously.
A. Causes
Server URL is different or mistyped it.
Already associated with another program.
A. Causes
Internal DB errors
If there are abnormal closed applications, disconnect the network for a
while and/or abnormally shutdown the PC
B. Resolutions
If the problem is not resolved within an hour, restart the service at
Server Control.
Restart the server if the problem is not resolved.
A. Please install Java 5.0 or higher by clicking on the link that is listed below.
B. Download Java and install
C. The Plug-in will not be installed automatically for Linux, therefore you must manually
install the plug-in by following the instructions below.
D. Please download Firefox and install
E. Verify that both the Firefox browser and Java is installed and also generate the link that
is listed below.
