Sexism, discrimination of one's sex, happens in almost all parts of the globe. Some parts of the globe are more "sexist" than the others but this is an issue of global importance. A common circumstance would be the underemployment of women in certain jobs, or the idea which internet jokes on "9gag.com" are based where the women's purpose in society are to cook for men, and that their only living place is in the kitchen. A major issue concerning sexism is in job oppourtunities, violence against women, rape, and marital complications where decisions are out of the female's choice. Somehow, globalization throught internet media, portray the weakness of women against men.

In terms of job oppourtunities, women truly can't serve in labor intensive jobs, well they could if they worked out. But to discriminate women that their professions should only be teachers, maids, fashion designers, are for me, unreasonable. Women are labelled as "the nurses" of the youth. In the story of the conception of mary, people have different views in the story, others say that women's only purpose is for giving birth or caring for the child. After the industrial revolution this sexist gap somehow reduced since machine could be operated by both men and women, but still engineers that time were, majority, male. Times have changed however there is still sexism.

I found that another reason why the female society is labeled as weak is because of numerous cases of domestic abuse, and rape. While media expose the public to these events, people, I think, uncosciously embed this "logic" in both male and female brains. Males tend to believe that it is a great example of how women should becareful or be afraid of what the "dominant" males can really do.

Males too have a tendency to be a victim of sexism. In a family it is normal for the father to be the bread winner of the family but in times where the father doesn't have a job but the mother has

a job, there is a big chance/tendency for them to be constantly fighting. Social forces such as peer pressure, are a cause of this. Based on experience, my father was being teased by his friends for not having a job, I think this social force, the urge to prove to people their social worth, which at times they do not have, sometimes push people to come to drastic measures or even violence.

As Karl Marx would say, social change is a result of conflict, thats why sexism today and in the past are of very different intesities. I even think one day sexism would reach a point where it won't really be a big social issue. But old traditions, religions or other beliefs are quite hard to change even for the betterment of society. As an old "9gag" phrase goes "One does not simply, disprove religion." Traditional beliefs streghten ideas about sexism. This belief system on different roles of men and women in society is yet another factor which may or may not promote sexism. The muslim religion allows a man to have more than one wife as long he can provide for them and women need to cover up their skin because of the belief that their skin is only for the eyes of her husband. This belief will never be acceptable in western culture where Chrsitianity believes in the equality of every creation of "God". Traditional social actions we see today could have been practiced centuries ago, these traditions are still being practiced today which indicates little signs of fading, which means their belief system won't as well.

The female society often plea for equality but there are times I actually see special treatment. For example is the women and children protections desk. Another is the saying "ladies first." I find it ironic in whats happening in most places but nonetheless, special treatment for women would at times be reasonable but at time out of selfish reasons, like a man being helpful to a woman but behind these kind acts is an burning sexual atraction.

I for one may uncosciously support sexism through my actions. I am agaist sexism but I do not promote feminism or am I in favor of the patriarchal society. If my will were to be followed, I would see a world where men and women would have equal rights, but it is of their choosing to exercise this right or not. But sadly it isn't up to me since social forces will forever be out of an individuals control.
