GIS INTERN Airport Administration GIS Office General Mitchell International Airport MKE

MKE has 2 full-time PAID intern positions available. Each position is eligible for up to 40 hours per week with a flexible starting date (mid-December) but, no later than early January. Applicants must be available for a minimum of 20 hours per work week (noweekends). PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS: The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility, but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned. Under the supervision of GIS Coordinator and GIS Specialist, incumbent will be responsible for; 1. Collection of spatial and associated attribute data in support of a large scale utility and infrastructure data development project. Development and design of geodatabase to support data development effort Prioritization of collection effort, entry of data into geodatabase, attribution, and quality control of infrastructure data sets. transfer, conversion, or otherwise entry of data from multiple CAD and historical paper plan sets

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Indicates a corresponding knowledge, skill and/or ability required for each of the above indicated duties 1. Proficient in the use of ESRIs ArcGIS suite of software specifically, ArcGIS 10.1 using SDE in a SQL environment; Microsoft Office applications specifically Access and Excel; Familiarity with AutoCAD and conversion processes between AutoCAD and ArcGIS. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of information systems as related to the GIS function and database management in an ESRI platform. Ability to organize material, analyzes a wide variety of information, and develops database schemas to support data. Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with supervisors and staff. Ability to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, follow supervisors instructions, and consider larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience: Bachelor Degree from four-year College or university preferred. Specific preference given to student enrolled in Masters Program with emphasis / major course work in information management and geographic information systems required. Physical Requirements/Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and to lift up to 50 pounds.
